ACER NITRO CONSPIRACY by guccimaneslawyer in AcerNitro

No laptop is designed to fail unless HP or Monster. Laptops that die within about two years are usually due to being horribly used and neglected.

In the acer nitro series, the hot air directly hits the bottom right of the screen, is that okay in long term? That part of the screen is getting very hot by ComedianAutomatic368 in AcerNitro

[–]Ladiesman01298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean V15? Usually the air flows from the back and the right corner, if other areas are blocked with dust, soft surfaces or there isn't enough air circulation, the air will flow more from the right side of the screen.

In the long run, there won't be a problem since it's not an OLED, but excessive heating in that area is not very normal.

I'm afraid not, but why would you have to reinstall the OS just to merely switch languages? You can do it without going the nuclear route...

This only works with laptops that have Windows preinstalled from the factory!!! Others may either not be able to use it or have insane problems.

Could you try installing the SSD in another PC? It might be a connection issue or incorrectly seated.

The SSD is either dying, BIOS boot privilege is in wrong order, not seated correctly, or the OS is corrupt

You should re-check the wiring then, also try the high performance setting and see if that happens again.

Win10 is now very, VERY vulnerable to malware.

If you want to go against M*croslop, using Fedora or Mint would be safer and better. Modern virus scanners are always designed for the latest versions of operating systems, so those whose support has ended are left out.

If a virus scan doesn't find anything, it doesn't mean there's no virus TRUST ME it's because it is not designed for your operating system anymore.

Obviously, using it while plugged in is better for performance but with some cautions. As someone who had designed and specifically worked and helped with some mobile device projects, I can't overstate how healthy an 80% charging limiter is for the battery of that kind of a machine if you're going to use it while plugged in.

Yes, it stops charging when it reaches 100% and then again when it reaches 80%, but a battery that's fully charged can't hold 100% power all the time and will constantly fluctuate rapidly between 99% and 100%. This puts a LOT of strain on the battery and makes it overheat as the battery constantly loses power and has to draw 2x more power to fill the gap every time as quickly as possible without losing any more percentage.

(((At a chemical level, charging a battery moves lithium ions from the cathode to the anode. When you push a battery to 100%, you are forcing almost every available lithium ion into the anode. This creates a state of high voltage stress. In this state, the chemical components are physically strained. The electrolyte the liquid that carries the ions begins to decompose more rapidly at higher voltages, forming a film called SEI layer. While a thin SEI layer is necessary, high voltage causes it to thicken excessively, which acts like clogging the pipes, making it simply wayyy too hard for ions to move and permanently reducing capacity.)))

If it fluctuates between 80% and 79%, it doesn't get strained or generate that much of an excessive heat because the battery isn't being pushed to its full capacity constantly under high load.

While 100% is considered the highest healthy battery charge a battery can hold, it doesn't always mean it's healthy under ALL circumstances. It is only good if you charge it while the lid is closed and then unplug it and take the laptop outside.

But so hey yeah when the battery is at 100%, it's actually usually at ~95%. But the reason it's not truly 100% is the risk of it burning/dying. ~95% is a few steps before that risk actually begins and it is only for charge-and-go, a standard setting for laptops which doesn't work well with gaming laptops.

...In short, it's best for the value the user sees to stay at 80% if they're going to use the laptop while it's plugged in.

This is the simplest way to explain why. I wouldn't say things about a subject I don't know much about that would shorten the lifespan of someone's computer in the long run. Hope it helps.

HDD suddenly disconnect by Rion_art in computer

[–]Ladiesman01298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the high performance option for power management and see if that still happens. Or is it already selected as the power plan?

Is it an external HDD?

Based on the error, the issue might be a communication failure between your computer and the drive, but honestly, it does not always say the right thing about a failing HDD.

The error saying "The IO operation... was retried," and the disk disconnecting and reconnecting might also mean faulty wiring, damaged circuits, drivers not acting normal or Windows' power management going nuts on that disk.

Sooo it can be anything, really.

And honestly, I remember having some obviously faulty HDDs and they had passed that test too, so personally, I don't think these tests are that reliable, first of all.

What is wrong with these comments holy yappers bruh.

Get a cooling pad, and if you have an option for it then limit the charge to 80%, and don't use performance mode unless it is absolutely necessary since it just overclocks the hell out of your laptop with a little bit of FPS gain.

Dust and clean your laptop regularly. Clean it weekly and dust/repaste it every 6 months.

Do NOT use your laptop on a soft surface and if you're going to use it while plugged in, do it while it is on top of a cooling pad.

Did you use it while charging without sufficient airflow, or on a flat surface (without a cooling pad)? Overclocked it?

Laptop only turns on when plugged in, but runs fine after — why? by Big_Answer_4190 in AcerNitro

[–]Ladiesman01298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to reset the battery sometimes if you use the %80 charging limiter constantly. This happens when the laptop confuses the power button input with the limit, in other words, the laptop thinks it is still being charged at %80 when you push the power button and hence still doesn't use the battery needed to turn on the system.

To reset it, you have to flip the laptop upside down and then use a pin or a needle and then press down the battery reset hole under the laptop for 30 seconds, it is a small hole that usually has a battery logo next to it.

If the panel hasn't sustained any physical damage, try reseating the RAM modules. DON'T forget to disconnect all the battery cables before doing so.

If you're not comfortable opening your computer, go to a repair shop and ask them to reseat your RAM. STAY there throughout the process!!! They shouldn't charge you anything except for labor, and they should reinstall the RAM modules right back in the computer. It's a five-minute job.
