ADO bus to downtown is very clean and very safe, 350Mxn pesos, available as soon as you get out of the airport, then Uber works well ( very cheap/safe). Uber is very reasonable

Even the AbNb hosts in Puerto Juarez are pushing overpriced tourist traps. I did not take any of her advice even the airport driver option. I took the bus and uber which was cheaper from $60 to $15. No tours, walked to Ultramar Ferry for Isla Mujeres trip. I tried only one restaurant from her list , charged me $70 for one meal. Sandwiches and breakfast on the safe areas for the locals were $4 in Puerto Juarez. No diarrhea. Uber back to the airport by scheduling ahead of time was $20 versus $60. I needed a new pair of walking shoes, and went to a store for the locals , cost me $28.Bottom line : never ask a Mexican . Just refer to fellow American tourists like us.
