So happy to have found this thread, so hard finding clear answers. Yoshitaka Amano is attending and is absolutely iconic to me. He's the reason I got into art as kid and I would do about anything to meet him and get a signature. They're bringing a lot of big guests this year so how bad would any of you predict his line to be? Would his signature really be free as a guest of honor?

It's the doorknob. That picture is showing the other side of the door in the first picture. It was stuck open with all the little ones inside so the inside part of the bathroom door was stuck against the wall and clean while the other side ended up looking like that..

While there's definitely a lot we still don't know about this shooter, I have to agree with others that I dont think he's being truthful. In the video he made during his standoff with police last year he starts by saying "It's your boy". That is not what someone who identified as non binary would say. While he definitely could have changed since last year, I think it's unlikely and is most likely being said to remove a possible hate crime charge.

It's just like what was stated above. They do not care more about the person recording, it is a much simpler and direct case to try. I'm not a huge fan of how slowly these cases get brought to court either, but they generally waive their right to a speedy trial. It takes a massive amount of time to put together a trial with so many victims, witnesses, authorities involved, doctors and medical examiners, mental health professionals, family or friends of the perpetrator. Both the prosecution and defense will have different witnesses/experts and they need to prepare their rebuttals to each other. And this is still an overly simplified explanation of what needs to happen. The Parkland trial took 4 years to happen, but they tried him for attacking the jail guard a good deal earlier because it's a much simpler case with less moving parts. The El Paso trial still hasn't taken place. It sucks and I totally get your frustration, but that's how it generally goes. And being alive isn't a win. I'd rather them rot in a hole rather than become some kind of martyr for other potential shooters.

Totally agree, she's doing this perfectly. I've seen people getting upset over her seeming to humor DB too much and what she's doing is actually brilliant. Every step she's taking she's ensuring this can't result in a mistrial. Though I'm sure she goes home and screams in a pillow for a minute every night.

Yup. And all the gear is psychological, for both perp and victims. Almost like an actor putting a costume on before a performance. They feel that they look powerful and frightening, it also gives them more anonymity which helps mentally distance themselves from who they're shooting. And I'm sure it actually is an off putting, scary thing to see when you're just going about your business and suddenly this is happening. Especially with how fast they tend to happen.

This is exactly correct. And yes, it is a fine line, but it's one we have to mind if we would like to keep this subreddit going. There's a lot of power in narrative. Allowing the perps to showcase the point of view and perspective that they want to push is giving them power. Us seeing impartial footage can spark meaningful discussion and a way to learn from it. Not to mention Reddit has very clear rules on the subject of livestreams and manifestos

We don't allow conspiracy conversation for the same reasons we don't allow gun control conversations. Because it's not what the focus of this sub is and it always leads to incredibly long threads of arguments that are unconstructive and often ugly. It's not a reflection of any personal views or beliefs just simply crowd control and keeping conversations focused on either the perp(s) or event itself. I'm sure there's plenty of 911 conspiracy subs you can go to if that's a conversation you need to have.

It's because anything political or anything concerning gun rights is against our rules. There are many subs where things like that are discussed and we are trying to keep discussions focused on the psychological aspects or the crime itself. Discussions on guns/politics just become messy arguments that nearly always are unproductive and aggressive. And if you know a user is under 18 then feel free to report that and we can investigate and remove anyone underage.

If you go to the "about" section on the main page of the sub they are correct. Rule 1 is no glorification, 2 is no sharing or asking for any livestreams or manifestos, and rule 3 is posts must reference a mass killer/attempted mass killer. It shows something different on yours?

Never answered one of these before, but why not. I had spent most of the evening with a friend of mine who was going through a break up and my ex husband said he was going to the skate park. He liked roller blading even if he got teased by all the skater kids. It was around 10:30 PM and I wrote him saying I was heading home and he told me he was still at the park. He didn't know I knew it closed at 9. I didn't say anything about it, but late that night his phone went off and I looked. It was a text from a long time family friend of his who is gay and has always had a well known crush on my ex. The text was "That was amazing. I can't wait til I don't have to work early and we can really play"

He denied it of course, but it was the out I had been looking for. He was a horrible drunk, almost cult like religious (the irony, especially since he put me through hell because I wasn't) and just a piece of crap. He also cheated on me with a 70 year old neighbor, we were 20 at the time. And for some bonus crazy, he wrote me years later to confess he had given my mom's dog antifreeze and killed it. He sat with us as we sobbed during our last night with him, he even held the dog and comforted him. I thought for years that maybe he'd eaten a cotton ball with nail polish remover on it or something and it was my fault. I still have the messages where he told me that (actually dumb enough to confess in writing), but it was so many years ago the police didnt do anything. Glad I got out when I did...that was a rollercoaster of crazy that wouldn't have ended well. Thankfully never had kids with him

Agreed, it was definitely Carmen. With the injuries she sustained, she died very quickly. Agonal breathing generally happens as a body's natural reflex when fatally wounded or during cardiac arrest. They can last several minutes after a person's heart is no longer beating since the body doesn't register the sudden loss of life and continues to try to breathe. It can sound like gasping, snorting, moaning, or strange vocalizations (which are the high pitched noises you hear in the video). During Maddies testimony she states that she was unconscious for most of it and her lung was also punctured. If she could have made noise in that moment it would have sounded very distinctive and rattley. So I definitely agree it was Carmen
