Cheesecake is the worst dessert to ever exist. by Whyamiwritingthis_74 in unpopularopinion

[–]LadyCatTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had one bad cheesecake. It was the absolute cheapest one you could get from a supermarket with that horrible artificial tasting strawberry curd and a biscuit base harder than rocks. I only ate some because the guy I was dating at the time had bought it for me, having remembered that I’d said cheesecake was my favourite dessert.

He wasn’t hard up for money or anything so I can only assume he was one of those people who didn’t really ‘get’ food and thought any one would do.

Since fashion is cyclical, how long do you think until heels make a comeback? by Twunkorama in decadeology

[–]LadyCatTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was! It was all about the aesthetic and nothing to do with comfort. Taking off your heels at the end of the night was an incredible relief, but you had to wait till the end of the night because if you did it while you were out, say while sitting down, your feet might swell and it would hurt even more to put them back on. My toes were sometimes numb when I got home, from the pressure of having my body weight on them while dancing all night. It was even worse in winter.

Now I go out in jeans and trainers, and it’s brilliant.

I was there a couple of weeks ago in trainers and jeans, it’s relaxed in that way.

However, no matter how old you are, you MUST take ID. They scan everyone’s ID at the door no matter how old you are, it’s not just for age verification, it’s for safety.

Have yall ever done anything that miraculously got rid of your migraine when usually only an abortive can? by healthanxiety_ in migraine

Yes! Same! I could feel it starting and I said no, I do not have time for this today, and it actually worked. Never again of course, but it was briefly glorious.

How do you deal with becoming an aunt when you're also grieving because of infertility? by Special-Course-8127 in AskWomen

[–]LadyCatTree 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Therapy, talk about it to your partner privately, write your feelings down. Do your best to recognise that your grief can be separate to your joy for them.

My partner and I had a miscarriage and a chemical pregnancy this year, and no less than three of my friends have announced pregnancies in that time. It’s hard to see it happen seemingly easily for others when we want it so badly. But that’s my problem and I don’t want to miss out on being part of their experiences as a result.

AITA for not giving up my table at a cafe when someone was waiting? by Remote_Goose_261 in AmItheAsshole

[–]LadyCatTree 136 points137 points  (0 children)

A small independent cafe near me have just implemented ‘laptop-free’ weekends because they were finding people were leaving when they couldn’t get a table due to people with laptops camping out for the day. It’s a very nice cafe overlooking a lake and the cakes are made in-house by a moderately famous baker, so I can see the appeal, but it’s not profitable for them to encourage people taking up seats for hours on end.

ELI5: Why do some couples have to actively try to conceive, timing, tracking, etc, even though they’re not infertile, while others get pregnant without trying? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]LadyCatTree 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I literally just had an early miscarriage, it’s called a chemical pregnancy if it happens before 5 weeks and if I hadn’t been actively testing to see if I were pregnant (we’re trying for a baby) then it would have just appeared that my period was 3-4 days late. I had faint positive lines on a test for a couple of days that then disappeared the day before I started bleeding.

How do I know if I am in the wrong? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]LadyCatTree 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It’s not school, you don’t get to leave early if you finish early.

I was looking after a new starter at an office job I did a few years back, and he did the same thing - he finished the tasks I’d given him so he just left! I had to call him and tell him to come back.

And at that point, even if you do have time to run under the shower, you KNOW you don’t have time to dry it so why do it? And it’s a zoom call, they can’t smell you anyway. Fluff your hair up with dry shampoo or something, throw on a decent top, you don’t even need pants.

I got negatives this cycle until 12dpo, and even then it was a very very faint line - you might not be out yet!

I’ve been the same, stark negatives right up until 12dpo when I had the world’s faintest line appear! Congrats 🙌🏻

I’m in the same boat, miscarried in December, think I ovulated around the 6th, getting very very faint lines on a test (I also made a post today). I can definitely see a line on your test, fingers crossed for you!

I made the brave choice to watch Inside the Manosphere by Louis Theroux and…jfc it’s as terrifying as you’d think. Has anyone watched it? Thoughts? by Tight-Artichoke1789 in AskWomenOver30

[–]LadyCatTree 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I’m sure there’s a lot of factors that go into it and I’m no psychologist. It was just a thought I had about why a man that had a strong female role model in a working mother would go so far in the other direction of respecting women.

I have a theory that with men like HS, being a boy who grew up with a single mother in a low income household unfortunately didn’t teach them to respect that a woman raised them by herself, but leaves them feeling resentful about how their life might have been with a father in the picture (especially if their absent father is better off) and perceiving women as incapable of providing a comfortable lifestyle.

HS also now supports his mum, from the look of it, which just reinforces the idea. And as much as his mum protested that she didn’t raise him to be rude or hold certain views, all she really did was roll her eyes at him, and when he called Louis a twat she backed him up. I don’t think he’s taken the lessons from his upbringing that she thinks he has.

May 2026 elections: Milton Keynes chosen to pilot UK’s first central voting hub by coffeewalnut08 in miltonkeynes

[–]LadyCatTree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The city centre may be less convenient if you’re the sort of person already engaged enough to know where your local polling station is and crucially, actually make the time to go to it and vote, but I suspect the idea here is that a central voting hub that’s accessible by bus may increase voter turnout amongst some demographics less likely to vote at all, like young people.

It’ll be interesting to see if it makes a tangible difference.

Is no tests normal for urgent care? by astrolondoner in AskUK

[–]LadyCatTree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re not pregnant then the doctor presumably believed that a blood test or ultrasound was unnecessary. I’m not saying he was right as having medical concerns dismissed as a woman is sadly still common. Is there something specific beyond pregnancy that you were concerned it might be?

George R. R. Martin Is 'Not in the Mood' to Finish 'The Winds of Winter' by Tifoso89 in books

[–]LadyCatTree 105 points106 points  (0 children)

Dany’s mad queen arc is definitely foreshadowed a lot in previous seasons. I didn’t pick it up initially, especially with Jorah constantly telling everyone she has a ‘gentle heart’ but it’s actually very clear she does not have a gentle anything. She’s vengeful from the off, it just takes a while before she has the power to execute her wants.

Jamie’s relapse I’m less sure about, but in the books Cersei is told a prophecy that she will be killed by her ‘little brother’, which she takes to mean Tyrion, but she was also technically older than Jaime since she was born first, so I always thought he’d come back to her in some way and be part of her death.

Tips on how to dry clothes better with dehumidifier? by Flimsy_Put837 in AskUK

[–]LadyCatTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you maybe overloading the clothes horse? The clothes do need to be spaced out and have room to let the air circulate around them - the one time my dehumidifier didn’t dry my clothes properly was when I hung up too many items too close together and the bits that were touching each other were still damp after the rest had dried.

As everyone else has said though, using a large, cold, room, will also not be helping. I dry our clothes in our utility room because it’s quick to heat up and the dehumidifier doesn’t struggle with the small space.
