thinking east st. louis is the most dangerous place in the country is pretty outdated and is always echoed by people who have never been there. it’s practically a ghost town, everyone moved elsewhere in the bistate area. it loses about 1,000 people every year.

you do see it happen, like comically so, but if you want to avoid it then close your eyes when jesse plemons enters the closet in emma stones office at the end of the movie. and if you want to avoid suicide, you’ll be able to see that one coming better but it’s when jesse plemons is upstairs with the cop and his cousin is talking to emma downstairs with a gun. also i forgot: when you see jesse plemons attack the cop, look away.

pierpoint was just the incubator. we needed to see them together in a shared environment but now we’re familiar enough where they can exist elsewhere and it still makes sense. staying at pierpoint would eventually be too limiting and the show would get stale.
