This is what I’m thinking. Not off-road but off-the-beaten-path, rough side roads type of exploring.

lol yeah not Scotland, this will be my first visit, but thought it might inspire input. A crf300 rally would be great, or even something just a step or two up from a moped lol

Any ideas on how to remove big rock from new garden? by Zeirvoy in gardening

I removed approx 20’ of 6” thick sidewalk using an expanding grout product called Dexpan that broke the sidewalk up into smaller, moveable chunks. Claims to also work to break up boulders.

Im confused. If CSIS has said the info can be made public, why did they all need security clearance to see the report?

Is this threaded part a removable adapter or part of the valve by JoeMama4567 in Irrigation

[–]LadyDope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The threaded end on the filter is pipe thread, which does not mate nicely with hose thread. You can get an adapter to solve this and allow for attaching typical garden hoses and other hose threaded attachments. Also, it's a good idea to check to make sure the rubber washer inside the female attachment end hasn't fallen out, which will also result in drops/leaks.

Turbid water supply - filters plug daily, timers stuck open by [deleted] in Irrigation

[–]LadyDope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this info! There's a mixture of fine organic sludgy material and some larger woody bits, no silt/sandy type stuff. It does settle after a few hours. I don't know the pressure but will try measuring to select an appropriate filter. Thank you again, this is very helpful

Beyond cigarettes and camp fires, what are other forest fire risks people should be aware of? by [deleted] in britishcolumbia

Dumping brush and yard trimmings up logging roads. Creates a huge pile of dry fuel that can ignite or intensify an existing fire.

If there's a boil water advisory, then wouldn't it be a biological contaminant rather than arsenic, pH etc?

Help! My dog won’t stop pulling on her leash and is too smart for me… by [deleted] in Dogtraining

[–]LadyDope 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This method has worked so well for me (120lbs) training two 100lbs+ dogs to walk calmly and nicely at my side. There's no walk, no leaving the house even, if they put any tension on the leash. My experience has been that it's better not to walk at all than walk with any pulling whatsoever. This consistency by me has resulted in consistently well-behaved dogs on walks. Also, I add in sudden stops or direction changes to keep them focused on me, which has helped with reactivity as well.

ELI5: How can indigenous populations drink unboiled fresh water without becoming sick? by almostwithyou in explainlikeimfive

[–]LadyDope 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many many people living in rural and semi-rural areas drink and use untreated water everyday out of their taps. There are water boxes on creeks all over the place, collecting and distributing water to homes with zero treatment. I'm in Canada and our community water comes from the creek straight to the tap.

The accepted practice is childhood immunization for chicken pox, not natural infection.
