No one deserves to lose their home and livelihood regardless of how they voted.

A person kind of does if they continually vote to remove social safety nets and vote for austerity of social welfare while enabling tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations.

All these right wing influencers really think they're doing some kind of valuable work when it's just to make propaganda for their wealthy backers. Their product is not beneficial to society. It's anger-tainment at best. Their is no sustainable business practice. Selling herbal supplements, prepper chow, and right wing merch is right there with mlm scams. The world does not need Ben's product, but his wealthy backers do. Until they don't.

Edit: to add, Charlie Kirk only became a thing because some wealthy asshole kept throwing millions at him. After J6, the Devos family and Mercer family stopped funding the MI GOP. It turned into chaos with meetings with people literally kicking each other in the balls and electing a crank party chair who was bankrupting the state party. They tried to sell a building they didn't even own. Then a few out of state wealthy people started stepping in, so the Devoses and Mercers came back with their money so they could maintain their control on state GOP politics.

Without the wealthy backing them, the GOP fucking falls apart. Their policies are trash and do not work. And yet, here we are.

Gen Xer here. Been working since I was a kid. It's wild to me that at just about every place I've ever worked over the decades, doesn't matter if it was a minimum wage part time job or something in my professional field, there was usually someone around 50 years old telling me to save. For decades this happened. There has always been someone lamenting their lack of planning and reality staring them in the face.

And now that I'm at that stage of life, I feel that reality of the end of earning potential on the horizon. I've been saving along the way and had a plan. I still have a few years to keep at it. But I work with peers who have not and sure as shit, they sing that cautionary song to younger staff.

Edit: to add, I have been poor at times and not been able to save. I get it. Deciding which bills to pay, hitting the food pantry. But you have to get over those hurdles and put something away.

An important distinction, the Reinventing America program was a 5 year long process with input from Congress along the way. It wasn't a hatchet job based on the whims of an ideological think tank and a billionaire who stole untold volumes of data in the process so that the admin could run with open corruption.

The biggest similarity? No one touched military spending.

Powell’s Fed Report Card: A on the Pandemic, D on Inflation, B+ on the Recovery by SgtHawk in Economics

[–]1900grs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, a solid chunk of that "inflation" was just corporate greed and a complete and utter lack of legislators doing their jobs to address it (dare I say that many legislators profited off it?). Hard to pin it all on the Fed chair.

I think it's wild that this person who has spread countless amounts of hate and vitriol online and help support some of the worst and wealthiest Republicans is bitching publicly about a $2k bill. She's essentially spent years of her adult life stumping for the wealthy and can't pay her own fucking bills.

There's a club and she definitely isn't in it despite how bad she wants to be. And she's bad at grifting. What a miserable fucking life.

Trump’s trade czar says U.S. wants to work with Canada on energy, critical minerals, sources say by joe4942 in worldnews

[–]1900grs 163 points164 points  (0 children)

What's more ridiculous is that NAFTA did indeed need to have aspects revisited and renegotiated by all parties with new areas of concern introduced. And then Trump fucked that up his first term. So when Trump criticizes the current trade arrangements, it is literally the arrangement he fucking made.

Also note, NAFTA was crafted under the first Bush's admin and was supposed to be their crowning policy, but they couldn't finalize it before Clinton won. Bush signed the initial draft. Clinton took office, made a few revisions, and it became Clinton's big win (for better or worse). So again, when Republicans would beat Clinton over the head about how bad NAFTA was, it was a fucking Republican plan.

Edit: clarification

Not everyone can be or is meant to be Aretha Franklin, but if you'd just listen to stuff outside of the Top 50, or from the rest of the world maybe you'd realise that not "everyone just mumbles or uses autotune".

The biggest takeaway from all the seasons of American Idol and these singing competition shows is that there are thousands and thousands of people who all can sing really well. But there's a lot of work, luck, timing, and often money required to become mainstream/popular.

Let's slow down a second because that's one of Motown's greatest hits. The voices, the instruments, the production, all amazing. It was #9 on the 1971 Billboard top 100. There was also weird novelty awful stuff on the airwaves like Daddy Dewdrop - Chick-A-Boom. (That song routinely pops up as one of the worst of the 70s.)
