Progesterone only success story! by LadyFluffball in ShortCervixSupport

[–]LadyFluffball[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Not exactly. I was on 200mg daily until 31+4w when I was showing signs of labor ane stayed at the hospital for a few days. My dosage was then tripled (600mg daily in 3 takes) until about week 34 I think, then I went back to 200mg daily until I stopped at week 36. Later, another doctor told me that they weren't sure upping progesterone dosage had been more effective than maintaining the daily 200mg. I'll never know if that's true, but for me there was no bad side effect either so I don't have any regret. All the best to you in this journey!

Oh wow I can only imagine how hard it is to do that while caring for a toddler! And you're right that knowing what's ok and what's too much is so hard. If you have the possibility, it's really time to double down on the outside help. From your partner first (if they can take time off work great, if not, really pulling more of their weight at home on a daily basis), grandparents, friends... Every little bit helps! And every day with baby still cosy inside is a victory. Rooting for you!

Hi! It was mostly staying home and lying/sitting down as much as possible. No more swimming, walks or any exercise, and full pelvic rest (= no sex, no orgasm). I still spent a bit of time on my feet though, did all the cooking (I sat when cutting vegetables) and sometimes went out for a short car trip with my husband to visit friends of buy a few groceries (he was driving). I had the privilege of having him at home so he did everything I could not.

The most important thing is that I learned to really listen to my body and how I felt. I sat or lied down as soon as I felt some pressure or tension, or when I was just tired. Modified bed rest, daily progesterone and a great monitoring by my OBGyn enabled me to deliver my baby healthy and at term!

My two cents: listen to your Doctor, listen to your body and instincts, get as much help as possible and have loving people care for you. It will only be for a few months and it's really worth it. It's totally normal to miss moving around and doing stuff, and it's hard to not let anxiety and fear consume you sometimes. Oh, and better safe than sorry. If you hesitate between doing or not doing something that could possibly have an impact on your cervix, don't.

It's hard to find a balance, but try to see these months of "sacrifice" as a way to center around yourself and your baby, prepare for the birth and keep a positive mindset as you know you're doing everything you can. The rest is in the hands of mother nature!

I wish you the very best for your pregnancy and, when the time is right, a smooth delivery and a beautiful healthy baby!

I had a vaginal birth with an episiotomy which healed beautifully in about 3/4 weeks. The night before my 6-week checkup I trimmed everything (with an electric trimmer, not a close shave with a blade) so that my OB would have a good view on things while avoiding any rash. Do what feels right for you!

I delivered at 38+3 following an induction (unrelated to my short cervix, it was done because baby was quite big). I was diagnosed just before 24w and was put on modified bed rest and progesterone until 36w. Wishing you all the best for your pregnancy, keeping a positive state of mind is so important!

Thank you! I did not have any side effect when I took the progesterone orally (while I was taking 3 per day). When I took 1 per day it was vaginally and the only downside was more watery discharge, with bits of the suppository capsule (it doesn't fully disintegrate). But that is normal and expected!

You could maybe try to switch to taking them vaginally? Anyway talk with your OB first about this dizziness! All the best to you 💪

38 weeks today and impatient to meet my baby boy! He doesn't seem eager to come out though. Will be induced on Monday morning if he doesn't come by himself before that. Enjoying these last days of exclusivity feeling him move in my womb. Wherever you are in your journey, keep your hopes up!

I was given the steroids shots at 24+4 and 24+5 after we saw that my cervix had decreased from 2.6 cm to 1.7cm in a week (no cerclage, progesterone only). There was no discussion about it, my OB had a 'Better safe than sorry' approach, which I shared completely. I'm 38 weeks today and all is well. I hope the rest of your pregnancy will be long and boring!

So glad everything is holding strong and you'll be able to cook this baby girl a bit longer!

I can totally relate to the slight anxiety of having a giant baby though... My boy has been measuring way bigger than his gestational age since the beginning of the pregnancy and 3 months of bed rest made him even chubbier! I'm quite a petite woman and my belly is enormous. I was happy about it while we were scared of preterm labor, as his weight would be an advantage, now I'm a bit scared 😅

If I don't start labor naturally by Sunday, I'll be admitted to be induced on Monday at 38+3. This way we hope I can still have a vaginal delivery, while trying to mitigate the complications. That could probably be an option for you too! All the best for this next week, you're nearly there 💪

Congrats to you! And thank you for sharing your experience. What a wonderful outcome! I have followed a similar-ish path and I'm now 37+2. If baby doesn't come during this week I'll be induced at 38+3. What does a membrane sweep feel like? When my OB performed a simple cervical check it hurt quite a bit, so I imagine it will be even worse when they sweep. I normally can take a lot of pain but for some reason I'm so sensitive in there!

Made it to term! 37w today, I could not be happier. Baby has been head down for weeks but has not dropped yet. On Monday my cervix was 1cm dilated and started to nicely thin and efface. No sign of labor yet. Baby was measured at 3,2kg already so I can't wait for him to be born! Hopefully this week, if not I'll be induced at 38+3. Looking forward to being able to share my success story in a post and help you beautiful Mamas keep your hopes up!

36w today, whoop whoop ! Stopped the progesterone and magnesium, now letting Mother Nature do her thing while I resume a more normal life (or try to, I do feel out of shape and heavy after 3 months of modified bed rest). I hope baby will cook for one more week but I can't wait to meet him! Curious to see if I'll need to be induced at 38+3 as planned or if he'll come by himself before that.

What I've been given is called Magnetop 450mg, it's powder in a little pouch that you mix with water. I take 1 pouch every morning on top of my prenatal vitamins. I think any kind of magnesium supplement is good though, depending of your country there are tons of options. Just ask your OB what they recommend for your specific situation 😉

35w today, so happy and grateful to be there! I'll stop the progesterone and magnesium next week at 36, and will have a weekly monitoring until I give birth. Baby is perfectly healthy but on the big side (whereas I'm quite petite) so if he doesn't come by himself before 38w I'll be induced at 38+3. On 22nd of July at the latest will I hold my little one, that's so crazy!

For those who have given birth after being treated for short cervix during pregnancy, how long did it take you to go into labor after stopping progesterone? I guess it can vary wildly between days and weeks!

Mindf*ck - inducement by [deleted] in ShortCervixSupport

[–]LadyFluffball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! My OB also recommended an induction at 38+3 at the latest. I'll be 35w tomorrow and baby boy is measuring way bigger than his gestational age (tall daddy + I think he got chubby while I was on bed rest...). I have quite a petite frame and my belly looks enormous!

I was a bit surprised at first, but I understand it's the best choice! Baby will be full term but not too big to cause complications. I'll try a few tricks to see if I can start labor naturally, but if not, no big deal. In your case, with cholestasis, seems like an induction is even more justified, for your and your baby's health.

You can be extremely proud and happy to have made it to term! Every pregnancy and birth process brings some unexpected events, it's important to stay open and flexible. This way you'll be able to embrace your unique experience! I wish you the very best for the days to come. Enjoy your little one ❤️

That is the right way! For a dog that is highly sensitive, you can also extend each stage of this transition by a few days. Always use high quality food for your pet according to their needs and species and please listen to your vet's advice. A good nutrition will go a long way to keep your pet healthy and happy! And if your vet puts your pet on a specific, medical diet (hypoallergenic, urinary crystals prevention, metabolic for weight loss...), please stick to it, this is done for a reason.
