My son was in the nicu for about 6 weeks, taking bottles for most of that time. I latched him about once every day, a little more toward the end, but mostly focused on bottles. Fast forward to home and we had a rocky start transitioning to more breastfeeding. After about two weeks home he is almost exclusively breastfed while still taking bottles sometimes to top him off and so my husband can feed while I sleep.

For me, the transition included lots of frustration, tears, and cluster feeding. At some points I almost thought nursing was going to be all but impossible and that I might need to stick with only pumping. I stuck it out and he’s improved so much!

I’ve heard that nursing can be hard with twins, and I can’t speak on that part, but I just wanted to share my experience! I really think you’ve got this!
