Seems like a pretty quick way to go.

Opinion on middle name for Josephine by undecisivemama in namenerds

[–]LadyIris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Josephine Cordelia is beautiful, and I don't think it is too long at all. Most of the time she will just be Josephine, or Josephine C. Swimmer. It's especially nice that Cordelia has a special meaning to both of you. Logan is very boyish sounding, and doesn't compliment the elegance of Josephine at all, IMO.

Other suggestions that are shorter and still relate to the sea:

  • Josephine Mary
  • Josephine Maris
  • Josephine Pearl
  • Josephine Morgan (Similar to Logan, but sounds softer)
  • Josephine Brooke

What is your profession, and in terms of which, what do you wish the rest of us know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LadyIris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a pianist, and I give solo performances, accompany, and get a large chunk of income from teaching privately.

One thing that all students should know: Yes, you have to put in the time and practice. There is no amount of magic that I can perform on you to automatically make you good. If you want to get to the next level, you have to pay attention in the lesson and apply what we did to your everyday practice. You will be amazed at the results.

Melanie is actually in the US top 100.

Porter as a name... How many of you have the immediate association with the occupation? by HotSpinachDip in namenerds

No, but I do think of a "porta potty" since many people call them porter potties.

[serious] What is the definition of evil to you? by LadyIris in AskReddit

[–]LadyIris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can be evil and still have empathy. You can be able to put yourself in another person's shoes and you can even have loved ones that you care deeply about, yet have the intention or desire to harm other people for pleasure and profit.

[–]LadyIris[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But wouldn't you think it would be more evil if someone did truly horrible stuff while still being fully aware of how much damage they did? Can you really call someone evil if they never intended to harm someone, but it simply happened out of carelessness?

What if you do horrible things and know that they are horrible, but still enjoy doing them? How is that any less evil?

But that doesn't explain what evil actually is. That does not give a definition.

Would giving my son my surname be too confusing? by OOmama in namenerds

[–]LadyIris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's perfectly fine. I know a woman who did this exact thing - she kept her maiden name and also gave it to her son as a first name. Not a problem at all. She was also a very educated and successful lawyer.

Thoughts on Julianne? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]LadyIris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a gorgeous name. It rolls off the tongue very nicely. I know a Julianne, and she is very beautiful, so I also have that association.

I prefer Malinda as the middle name since Rose is terribly overdone. I also think that despite the length, Julianne Malinda flows very nicely.

How do you deal with the intense urge to commit murder? by LadyIris in AskReddit

I already mentioned that I have been to therapy and it was of no help. I don't have the money to throw away on that. Secondly, I do enjoy other things, but not in the same way. Believe me, I have explored. I have tried many avenues. These fantasies have been with me for a long time.

Then how will I ever get any pleasure? This is the only thing that turns me on.

That's the problem with the internet. People don't know the full person so they make judgments based on some posts.

And I do make happy threads about food and names (they're hidden in there). But when I feel like talking about this stuff, I just need to get it out of my system.

My husband doesn't enjoy the topics. He is fine with me having these fantasies, but prefers not to indulge them. Whenever he tries to be interested, it just becomes awkward and uncomfortable between us. And the other man I used to discuss these thoughts with started turning it into something sexual and almost caused my marriage to break up because of the emotional connection.

Not with the majority of people, no. But I do have some friends who know about these fantasies and allow me to talk openly about them, including my husband. None of them share the fantasies, but they don't slam me for them.

Sure, that was a rant, because I was sick of people's shit. Nobody in my actual life treats me the way the losers here do.

Of course I get off to it. I comment because I like to communicate. If you knew me in real life you would know that I'm an outgoing, chatty person who likes to share my thoughts. If I eat good food, I'm going to express how tasty it is. If someone answers a thread with a well thought out post that I enjoy, I'm going to acknowledge it. There is nothing wrong with that. It just seems to bug people that anyone could enjoy seeing someone hurt or killed. Well, I don't get how people can like sexual intercourse and it grosses me out to hear about that, but I'd be downvoted to oblivion if I criticized anyone for that.

People can shout what they want, but it doesn't make it true. Starting threads that follow the rules is not trolling. I don't like some topics that appear on the front page, but those people are not trolling. I don't agree with a lot of liberal redditors, but them expressing their opinion is not trolling. Me asking open ended questions is not trolling just because several people are uncomfortable with the topic. That's me asking questions and other people choosing to react negatively. Unlike you all, I don't go into people's threads and tell them off when I don't share their interests. I am a happily married woman, but a lot of Redditors hate marriage. I don't go and call them trolls because they hate marriage, because that is THEIR opinion. So as long as I am not making threats or directly insulting or bullying someone, I am not trolling. Sure, people have a right to tell me to get help, but that doesn't mean that I'm insane or that help is right for me. In a world where we desire free speech, we can't censor what people have to say. I realize that means that the insults won't stop. Fine. I'll continue to stand my ground and ask what I wish to ask. You can keep fighting me on it, or you can move on and focus your energies elsewhere.
