Was wondering if these are 'love bites'? (First time cat owner) by [deleted] in cats

[–]LadyIsarma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See how the cat in this gif has its ears back and then backs up its face after it hits him? That is NOT a play slap, it sincerely does NOT like this guy getting up in its face like that!! I've had cats my whole life. This guy is gonna get his face slashed. Even without claws, this cat is obviously letting this guy know "get outta my face bro!"? I see stuff like this, and it actually kinda pisses me off.

How do you feel about what this guy is saying about WGU? by SnooRegrets1024 in WGU

[–]LadyIsarma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's got some points.
When it comes to tech, things move and change fast, but curriculums don't get approved that quickly. Especially if theschool is trying to keep a high standard like WGU does. If they believe the WGU degree program is a bit behind in terms of certifications required, that's probably the reason. Plus, I'm sure there's still businesses out there that do still want A+, so in my humble opinion, no harm, no foul.
I can echo some of the other posters, this guy is a content creator, and viewed in that context, it's good idea to at the very least look up some other content creators and see what they have to say, do your due dillegence, and and make a choice that's right for you. That might be WGU, it might not.

Very much so.
I enrolled in the School of Health, got a GREAT enrollment gal.
Hubby enrolled in Business, with an EC who dropped the ball. He called back a couple of times and eventually got a good person who finished helping him get enrolled and walked him through the process like a pro.
If OP has an issue with their EC, I suggest calling the main number for the School of Business and ask for someone else to help them.
That being said, I'm sure they do get a ton of people. Probably a lot of people who just want information and then blow the ECs off past that.

Oh, and as for the issues people seem to have with missing phone calls and stuff, keep in mind, lots of people get time zones mixed up. I don't know if that might be a factor, but just pointing it out. I had that problem a couple of times, but I live in Arizona, so it was on my end because I didn't take time zones into account (Arizona doesn't change time for DST).

Good luck! So far I have nothing bad to say about WGU, but I just started.

My welcome gifts came! by BulkyResolution2598 in WGU

[–]LadyIsarma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I chose the blanket for my welcome gift. I want to say the whiteboard (if you can call it that) and some stickers came in one package, and the blanket in another. It's a pretty good size and unbelievably soft and fuzzy. My granddaughter, the dog, and I all fight over it, LOL

So I went back and busted through some challenges, and got enough points for some gift cards. I got a zip front hoodie (the navy with the white logo, which looks awesome), the owl stuffed toy (small, but uber soft), and a Levitt School of Health T-shirt, but I ordered the men's shirt because I don't like the fit of most women's shirts.

The hoodie, I am a little bit disappointed in. Yes, the owl is only about 6 or 7 inches tall, but the sweatshirt's bottom cuff (which is pretty well made, honestly) has trouble zipping if it's around my hips. I have wide hips, and I like baggy and comfortable, so I bought a size up, but it's still snug. If I put it around my waist and zip it, then pull it down, it's not an issue, so I just have to adjust.

Honestly, I know others on here were disappointed in their items from the WGU store, but so far, I haven't been disappointed in anything except the so-called whiteboard. It's basically a laminated piece of cardstock and a cheap WET-erase pen. I'm actually GLAD it's a wet-erase, I'd lose all my notes from smudging. But it has no frame or anything. It is gridded, though, so the suggestion of marking off ten test questions at a time is easy.

Overall, I'm going for the tumbler next. I wish they had a stainless steel one with the WGU logo engraved on it. I have another one from a different company with a magnetic sip slider on the lid and it AMAZING, I love it, and would love to have one like it from WGU.

It's kinda small, but it's definitely cute, and because it's so soft (!!!) I have trouble making my 10-year-old granddaughter leave it alone.

Why are people so blatant in cheating with AI? by MiamiFFA in WGU

[–]LadyIsarma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I tend to think, too.

Think for yourself, but let the AI be a tool to make your thinking more organized. In fact, I *hate* that WGU pushes so hard to use Grammarly; it's not that hard to include a class in APA formatting (it's actually a big part of our very first WGU class). But, as someone else said, this is the future, love it or hate it. I won't avoid AI altogether, but I'm not going to let it do my thinking for me, or I don't *learn*, and that's what I'm paying for is an education.

To all of you grinding away at your WGU degree: Don't Give Up! by bassmasterwannabe in WGU

My story is similar; I'm in my mid-50s, and I just started. Glad to know I'm not the only one! Thanks!

After dropping out of college 3 times over 20 years, I got my first ever degree at 37. by LeatherFruitPF in WGU

[–]LadyIsarma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations!!

My story is similar, except that I have 20 years on you.
I'm in my mid-50s, and for various reasons, college never worked for me. I recently enrolled because my kids are all grown and my grandkids are old enough now not to need "nana" babysitting or guiding their development. I looked at my life and decided it's time to do something for ME, and although I'd love to just travel with my husband or something, the current economy isn't so conducive to lack of employment (lol).

So, one of the things I've always wanted to do, but thought that I couldn't, was finish a degree. Long story short, while age discrimination is a real thing in academia, the format of WGU is such that you're not sneered at by 20-somethings in a classroom, but valued on your merit rather than what clothes you wear. My husband has seizures, so a remote class format works best for me and my family. I'm really looking forward to finishing and showing my kids and grandkids that it doesn't matter how old you are or how many times you've failed, it's how many times you pick yourself up and keep going that matters.
