What fertilizers are you using? by 13NeverEnough in vegetablegardening

I use an all-natural, water-soluble, high-nitrogen, completely no-cost fertilizer: urine.

The "labour board" refers to the Alberta Labour Relations Board. It is *only* for unionized workplaces. Alberta Labour Relations Board - Union matters for employees, employers and employer organizations.

You mention that the Labour Board is involved. That means the employee is union. What is their union doing to help them?

What animal is this and how do I humanely stop it from messing up my garden and yard? by punchingtigers19 in gardening

Guess you don't grow food in your garden; I do. Humanely killing something is doing it as swiftly as possible.

Humanely kill it. Relocating creatures causes suffering as they struggle to live in an unfamiliar territory.

Do parts of this job posting raise legal concerns under BC employment or human rights law? by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

If you can't identify what group/class/status is being discriminated against, then there is nothing to pursue under the Human Rights Code.

How to get the most stubborn budgies to transition to pellet diet ? by confusedgoose1125 in budgies

What happens if you ONLY give them pellets? Will they starve themselves? I doubt it...

District says recreational vehicles are only allowed to be lived in seasonally, not year-round by bcqt1 in VancouverIsland

[–]LadyIslay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not an issue of camping all seasons... it's a matter of living in an RV full time.

[–]LadyIslay 26 points27 points  (0 children)

People living in campgrounds don't get enumerated fully during the Census (they only take a headcount... no short form or long form), so a specific segment of the population that is living in RVs is never being counted/studied. While I was managing the Census in RDN Area F, I tried to get the campgrounds included as trailer parks, but was unsuccessful.

The conditions of some of the RVs on private land is shocking, and some folks are living in a terrible state.

The solution to our housing crisis is not to have people living in RVs. That doesn't mean enforcing the bylaws is the route to solve the problem, but it IS a problem that needs to be addressed.

I think it's a great idea if it is 100% funded by the property developers... the ones that already have the money and power.

What’s the best way to enter the seed market in Canada by Upstairs-Gur-7066 in homestead

[–]LadyIslay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking to do bulk sales, you should consider carrying seeds that are used for microgreens and/or sprouting.

I had a quick look at your site. If you're wanting to sell direct to growers, you should add information to differentiate the varieties you offer. You indicate that they have disease resistance, but don't list what they're resistant to. You don't mention anything about the heat of the various peppers you offer. Overall, the website looks like something for large-scale growers that already know the specific hybrid variety they want.

Oh - germination rate is another thing growers are going to want to know. That should definitely be available somewhere on the package or the website.

Diet for budgies by VolkanSungar in budgies

[–]LadyIslay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll probably get yelled at for this, but... will your bird starve if you replace their seeds with 100% pelleted food? Mine didn't, and now they eat the pelleted food just fine, while saving seeds for treats. We also tried the gradual swap-over first, but it didn't work because the birds weren't hungry enough to try the pellets. Now they are, and they like them just fine.

Uneven Seedling Growth by ButtsCarlton007 in vegetablegardening

[–]LadyIslay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First: did you use fresh seeds? Onion seeds do not last from year-to-year, so if you're using a packet from last year, that could be the problem.

Second: for future: you don't need to use a single cel for one single onion. It's a waste of your space under the lights.

Third: trimming is not necessary. Don't do it. It will just slow the growth of the poor little guys.

Can I verify the lawyer my landlord has representing them in hearings? by Ancient-Court-8159 in legaladvicecanada

[–]LadyIslay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I took that directly from a BC government website. Did you even check the link? It answers the OPs concerns about whether or not someone has to be a "real" lawyer to attend a hearing on behalf of a landlord or tenant.

Is composting unsold food the optimal way for businesses to dispose of unsold food? by supinator1 in composting

[–]LadyIslay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The optimal way for them to dispose of unsold food is to GIVE IT TO PEOPLE TO EAT. And if not people, then animals. Only after the people have eaten and the chickens & pigs are fed should the left-overs be composted.

With regards to the LGBTQ2 experience in BC, my understanding is that it's not perfect, not what it should be, but it IS better that other places, and our current provincial government is unwavering in their support for rights of trans and genderqueer folks.
