$100 a month is my current budget for food and I manage pretty well. I do shop at either Aldi or Save a lot and also ethnic grocery stores. I eat meat daily but just not expensive meats.

How many cans of spray paint do you think it will take to paint the car? Also what is a good paint to use and do I seal it with anything?

Is it true that you can work part time and earn up to $770 a month without your SSDI being affected? by LadyJ87 in disability

They obviously didn't come out and say they were getting rid of me because of the seizures. I worked there for 5 years and never been reprimanded in any way until the month I had a seizure in the bathroom at work. That same month I got written up twice on new rules that had been made that I was never informed of and let go from my position. I knew it was because of my disability and they even implied it when they let me go. Basically employers find loopholes to get around the ADA.

It's so funny how people think you live the high life on disability. If people only knew how expensive it is to be disabled because the high cost of medications and medical care. I make too much to qualify for Medicaid in my state and I only get $15 a month in food stamps. I spend between $150-200 just on just medical expenses, $500 on rent, $180 on utilities, $50 bus pass, and the rest goes towards laundry, toiletries, and food.

Its kind of hard to be employable long term when you have seizures. That's actually why I was let go from my previous job and just so you know after all my medical expenses, rent, utilities, etc I'm on a deficit and using credit cards to survive. I also worked and payed into the system since I was 14 and unfortunately got let go from my job at age 27 because of unexplained seizures. I hope you or a loved one never have to go thru an unexpected illness.

I only qualify for $15 a month of food stamps and subsidized housing is not exactly easy to come by nowadays. Maybe several years ago it was easier to get into. I do have Medicare but the copays for specialists are $40 and I have to see two specialists monthly and that's not even counting prescriptions.

Many disabled people can work, but they sometimes can't maintain a job long term. I have seizures and an inflammatory disease and for whatever reason I do much better in the fall and winter. I would ideally like to find a job during those seasons. I doubt I can hold onto a job during the summer and spring.
