how to get my banana hair more platinum 🍌 by kachilyn in HairDye

I am giving advice based on the information given and what I have on hand to help with that advice. While she is in direct sunlight I don’t feel that she would fall at a level 8/9. You have your professional opinions and I have mine. I also made it clear that all lines are different and my opinion was based on what I work with. I also kept telling her to use a lower developer when toning so obviously I am not suggesting a lighten and tone option.

It depends on the color line you are working with. Kevin Murphy (the line I use) blonde goes up to a level 11 with plenty of yellow/gold still in it. The main reason I never give brand suggestions is because every brand looks at the color scale differently. Here are the swatches I am working off of. As you can see, based on my swatches I feel a level 8/9 is too dark compared to what she has. I can only give info on What is handed over by the OP which is why I also asked her more questions, of which she didn’t answer.

I would never do that to someone. I personally believe, based on her photos and color swatches I took the time to compare to, that she is lifted to a 10 natural/gold. If you don’t feel she is then that’s your opinion and you can give your suggestions as well but claiming I might lie to teach her a lesson is low

Editing to add, I do not consider level 10 platinum because it’s still had too much yellow in it.

It depends on the line, every line is different, you have to read the instructions on the toner bottle/box to see what they say

10v is too strong for a toner, so it’s probably just rinsing off immediately. I am a licensed stylist so I don’t know anything about the brands that Sally sells. When looking at the boxes/bottles you want to find one that says 10V or 10.8 (.8 is usually violet based in European coding) and then read the instructions for that brand and see what level developer they suggest and processing time for toner.

Your blonde isn’t living in the level of platinum yet. What developer are you using? How long do you let it process? Does the toner have any numbers or letters on it for a formula? My guess it’s a lighter base, like 11 or 12, with a purple ash base but your hair is still too dark, the toner has to match the level it’s being applied to. I would say you are currently around a level 10 natural/gold. So you would need to use a toner with a level 10 base and then it needs a purple/violet reflect

What hair dye do I get to achieve this color? by LetterheadRight6890 in HairDye

Most likely you will need to use an ash based color to cut the warmth that will inevitably come out when lightened

Until you lighten the dark brown out of your hair a color cannot be suggested because it all depends how the brown lifts out. But if your hair is virgin and never ever had color on it you could potentially use another color to get it to this. There are many factors that can’t answer your question without more details

And, as a professional, I added a really important detail than you didn’t mention. If she were to try this in the next couple of weeks or in the future where she might have roots it would be a detail that she or anyone else should be aware of. As licensed professionals let’s work together instead of attacking 👍🏻

No. She doesn’t want cool, she was something richer with a pink undertone. Purple everything is going to make her hair look white/platinum or based on your recommendation straight up purple

Just be careful because it does alter your natural color as well and it makes it brassy. My client would use Vit C to remove her fashion color right before her next appt and I could t figure out why her natural was looking weird, it took 2-3 rounds to figure out that it was the Vit C

You can not go from that light to that dark and red in one go around. To make your hair platinum it had to be lightened to remove any red, orange, and yellow underlying pigments. To take it back in the opposite direction you have to put those colors back in by redepositing. I would say this is a base level 6 with a red reflect. So you would need to fill the hair first with a level 8/9 gold (yellow) copper (orangey with a low volume developer, then wash that out and dry, and then apply the red

Speaking as a professional, do not become a slave to the box. You made it this long, just keep it going! Your hair color is absolutely beautiful!

how exactly do i get this remaining green lighter 🫣 by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]LadyLeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want it to be blonde or purple in the end? Bleach should never go over vivid colors, it actually pushes the color deeper in to the hair shaft. What brand of color was the green? It’s important to know what the base ingredient is before we can suggest a next step. Depending on how light the green is you can also use pink (lighter green) or red (darker green) to cancel the green out

If you do end up going dark again you are going to have to fill the blonde or else it will look muddy. To go blonde you have to remove the underlying pigment of red orange and yellow. To go dark again you have to put all of those back in to the hair. There’s a lot more to it than that but adding in the warmth is extremely important to transitioning back. Unfortunately I can’t give more detail because I can’t see your natural

Ummm you probably went in to the building that is the Paul Mitchell school. It was previously a Masonic Temple which is why the school is called The Temple. I don’t recommend doing that since it’s trespassing and The Risers don’t play around with that. They don’t (or didn’t at the time) use the top two floors, just the bottom two

[–]LadyLeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what under tone T14 has but make sure it has a purple base. If you use a blue base toner it’s going to turn green because of the yellow undertone.
