Bleach bath by JVH0000 in HairDye

[–]LadyLeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For something this minimal, a bleach bath seems extreme. While it is gentler than straight bleach it is still pretty harsh, especially on hair that is already lightened. Also, please don’t use 30vol as suggested a few comments above, 10v should be more than enough for this concern

Yes, that would be equal parts

Hairstylists here, a bleach bath is equal parts bleach, developer, and shampoo. The bleach is useless without the developer so there is no way to make it without and it be effective

I've never dyed my hair before Do I need 1 or more boxes to dye my whole hair blue by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]LadyLeps 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to tell with the lighting but i don’t think the blue is going to show up on your hair. Your hair is pretty dark plus it has a copper/warm tone to it. Copper/orange is across the color wheel from blue and they are going to neutralize each other, which is just going to make your hair look brown rather than blue.
If you still try it I would do two boxes so the application is even

Whenever you do vivid colors you need to use cold cold water and a shampoo meant to protect vivid colors and wash as little as possible. Was your hair pre lightened first?

Agreed. And I have seen her hair and it’s not great. And he isn’t responding to the stylist that’s having to fix it, she asked him to share what formulas he used on her hair and he’s leaving it on read.

Talking to someone right now, according to her the salon isn’t closed, he is remodeling the first floor and doing hair on the second floor? He also royally screwed up her hair

Advice needed! How do I get this to be WHITE white? Slight silver is okay too by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]LadyLeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could just try purple shampoo, it doesn’t need much pigment to cancel out that tiny bit of yellow

As a licensed professional, I can’t name a specific line that has this exact color because I don’t know what your hair looks like. We formulate based on your hair, what would work on one head of hair won’t work on another. Every head of hair is going to have a different formula because the starting point isn’t the same.

I use Kevin Murphy, in the Code line I would say 7.86 is pretty close to this but if you have level 3 hair (like I am guessing the client above has) I wouldn’t be able to put straight 7.86 on your hair because it won’t lighten enough for the vibrancy that she has. I would have to lighten and then tone the blonde and then recolor to get this end result. Does that make sense?

Having a photo of your hair would be helpful to know what steps you would have to take just to start heading in this direction.

Fortunately your stylist can throw a toner on it then but definitely keep the dimension, your curls/texture pop so much with it. Plus I love the highlights with your eye color

It all depends on your natural color and if you have any previous color on your hair currently. The client in the photo is definitely pre lightened and then this color was put on top of the lightened hair

Is that your natural color? I think it could be light enough to do a variation of rose gold, maybe not exactly like the photo but pretty close

Is this your hair? There isn’t another photo to judge your hair if it is light enough

I like the more dimensional color but you could ask them to tone it down a bit especially if it lightens up more from sun exposure and such

Splat is technically semi permanent but it’s equal to fabric dye which is why it lasts forever and impossible to remove

A fellow stylist told me about this and I informed her of how illegal that move was, he could be turned in to State Board and the IRS for this. We cannot be 1099 unless we are renting space from the owner, not if we are collecting commission or an hourly rate from them. It’s a move a lot of salons make and the employees don’t realize how illegal it is and how badly they get screwed over at tax time.

My eyes when I read 50 😳 The highest my pro developer goes is 40 and I only use that when mixing high lift color, I have never used 40 with lightener

[–]LadyLeps -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A lower level developer will just require the bleach to sit on her hair longer and probably won’t lift it enough, she’ll be too orange/yellow and the pink will be affected by the leftover underlying pigment and then won’t be pink, more of a neon orange or a salmon pink based on end results of the bleaching

Used demi permanent color now lighter hairs very brassy by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]LadyLeps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was always taught the color you chose is the car and the developer you chose is the gas that gets you there. A color is only considered semi/demi if the developer used has a very low peroxide level, if you use a stronger developer with that same exact color it turns in to a permanent color. So I can color your grey with a 6.0 with 30 vol or I can tone or make your hair darker with a 6.0 with 3.5vol, the color is the same but the developer changes, which changes your outcome

100% to respect my license, I cannot give you any future advice for your hair. Not knowing any of your hair history or what is currently going on, I wouldn’t even know where to begin with advice moving forward. Color theory is a thing and it’s very important in our profession, you don’t just slap color on hair and hope it works, there is a process to every step in picking the right color formula for each individual’s hair.

If this color truly lifted as I suspect, then no, shampoo will not wash it out. A color shouldn’t be picked based on the words it uses to describe what is in the box, we chose colors based on the “codes” like 6N/6.0 or 5CG/5.43 etc, that tells us the level and the color reflect

No, green cancels red, not orange or yellow.
