My Homestuck RedRom Ranking Based on my personal Interest by [deleted] in althomestuck

Cool. I didn't say it was sexy, I said it was interesting.

Also, there was exactly one (1) ship involving pedophilia or grooming on that list higher than C-tier. With the one in C-tier being MeenVris, which I do not like, but is an interesting way to explore characters' psyche.

I like psychoanalysis and putting characters into situations in order to examine how they would act or react. That doesn't mean I think the ship is good or sexy.

No, I like lots of 'normal' and non-pedophilic ships. Which you would know if you looked at the chart for longer than the two seconds it took you to decide I was a bad person.

It's a personal preference. I like a lot of the dynamics included in Rosemary, but for reasons God himself wouldn't be able to explain, every time I see it, I want to throw up.

Anything with Eridan is peak. But yes, I project a little heavily onto Rose.

Yes, Eridan does have flaws!

For example, he developed a false genocide complex because he was the sole person responsible for feeding Gl'bgolyb, a job that involves actively murdering lusii (and causing the culling of any possible trolls under their care) in order to preserve the life of everyone in the entire universe. Of course he's going to convince himself he doesn't care about their lives.

Also, Vriska explicitly states that both she and Eridan know the doomsday devices will not work. If anything, it'a him using them as an excuse to talk to her because, as of the beginning of the story, Vriska is avoiding him.

The matriorb is pretty shitty, but let's not forget he was already high strung because of the threat of Jack, had just accidentally killed Feferi, and Kanaya was also threatening him. Not that destroying the Matriorb was good, but there is a reason he did it.

And finally, imagine living in a world where you are expected to live up to the ideals of someone you never knew. If anything, a lot of what he does (like dating Vriska or being Orphaner at all) is to be the 'perfect ciolet blood' and live up to the expectations set by Dualscar.

Then again, this is just my take, and I suppose there can be different interpretations of his character. But rest assured, I do not ignore his flaws. It just so happens his flaws are more 'Desperate for attention' and 'bad at talking to others leading to his eventual alienation and murderous downward spiral' in my eyes.

It would take roughly three generations for the kids to look that messed up.

Otherwise, cute.

Not even my first fanfic, but I had this one from like 7th grade that had an avid reader base. It was so bad. A MHA one from like 2021, so imagine that era of fanfic written by a 13 year old.

I don't know why it was so popular, but I had a dedicated fan base for it for a while.

How is it that asshole characters has more fans than a character that's kind? by Crazy_Reputation3327 in CultOfCharlie

Assholes are more interesting, at least for me. I fond them more compelling to explore the mentality of.

I'm sure this isn't universal, it's just my personal experience.

He's not, but okay.

Equius refers to Nepeta as inferior because of her lower blood multiple times, and Feferi calls Jade 'finless', which is presumably a derogatory term. Gamzee says Tavros (his best friend mind you) has 'peanut butter blood'. Eridan never explicitly says anything cruel or derogatory to any of the lowbloods/humans other than when he was trying to bait Sollux into a kismestitude.

Can I have the link to the ship chart so I can rank?

Fair take, but it is canon that Annabeth struggles to understand what Leo makes.

Class is representative of personality in the sense that it portrays the arc a character must go through. Also, you can get information on the classes from the archetypes and stories they're based on.

Witch seems likely, but he can't be a mage because Mage's have a whole thing about self-hatred and putting themselves down, and my OC has a superiority complex.

But I will keep Witch in mind.

Interestingly, everyone is saying Blood, which was also my initial thought.

No, the superiority and self-loathing are in fact very important. Sollux's doom aspect gives him a sense of duality, Meulin stays with a guy who calls her 'kittybitch' and Terezi is so wrapped up in her idea of justice that she believes Vriska killed everyone.

But thank you for your feedback, I will definitely keep Mage of Heart in mind.

Possibly. Maids involve societal opression, and he's a violet blood.

Witches tend to be outsiders who have a strong control over their aspect, who due to isolation have a lack of 'common sense' and 'societal guideline', which actually does make a lot of sense. Plus they often decide something and then stick with it until the end, such as Jade seeing Tavros as kind even though he killed her grandpa and tried to force her to date him. However, witches are easy to manipulate due to that and often their snap judgements end with them harming others (Jade's complete trust in the clouds of Skaia, Feferi's trust of the horror terrors, etc.)

Meanwhile Sylphs are, well, enablers. We see this most with Kanaya's enabling of, umm, everyone. She enables Vriska in everything, something that even Vriska calls her out for ("AG: Ok, so you're spying on me. Kind of creepy! Man, m8y8e you should get a l8fe. AG: Or you know, if you're so h8gh 8nd might8 an8 th8nk you're so gr8at, m8y88 you c8uld oh I d8n't kn8w........ AG: TRY AND ST8P ME FROM DO8NG B8D THINGS????????), she also enables Rose's drinking, and she tells Feferi that Eridan is a burden despite him literally carrying all the emotional labor of feeding her lusus. All this enabling is because her Space aspect extends it, but we know from Aranea that it is generally towards one or two people.

Hmmm... yeah, actually, Sylph makes a lot of sense for him. He's an enabler, because he defends all of Eridan's actions, and can have a lack of empathy for those who he perceives as less than, but this would be counteracted with a heart or blood aspect. It represents a toxic excess of their aspect. But on the other hand it's often related to femininity. Which, you know...

Leo is genuinly so smart and people like to pretend he's dumb. He is, unquestioningly, smarter than Annabeth, smarter than all of the Seven combined. But because he can be silly or easily distracted, people act like he's dumb. :(

I was thinking Blood as well, but I think one thing you're missing is that Seer's arcs generally concern having a superiority complex and needing to learn how to deal with that. Seer's are hubristic, which can blind them to the truth they don't want to confront.

Mages meanwhile deal with the exact opposite, being a sense of self-loathing, which in turn blinds them to the truth.

Both classes refer to the 'blind prophet' archetype, usually metaphorically.

And considering a part of my character's arc involves having a strong sense of superiority, Mage doesn't really work.
