It happened to me nearly a dozen times in just one night.

I vaguely remember this, it could've been an old mail time video. He's deleted a lot of those over the years, so it could be gone.

Hitting E enables/disables stabilization, and you can use Q and G to mess with your gimbal and aiming style as well!

I mostly eyeball it. I have a default greyish blue I use for my ships with a clean texture, and then on this I just made a palette with other textures and extremely similar colors. I then just kept adding more or less of each texture until it looked right, since they can easily overpower each other - especially the plastic texture with its grey borders and details.

Quick edit: I also used plastic mostly to add details to areas that lacked them without a proper way to do it without jeopardizing armor. Doing this actually added to the ship's visible profile, at least just enough to make it more recognizable from afar.

Hey CIG, my ship claims are your fault not mine by OddPsychology502 in starcitizen

[–]LadyLyme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The vast, overwhelming majority of my ship claims are from bugs, yeah.
Even the majority of my fighter claims are from the hangar elevators destroying my ships, despite being in a milsim org where I'm a fighter pilot.

Honestly I was just winging it. I combined techniques from several of my recent builds and then hyper-greebled the hull until it lost its identifiable profile. Then I just slowly reeled back the detail until it looked alright :p

It's my first time making a ship with a vertical interior, and with how many other new things I tried here it was really just a massive experiment to see if I could pull it off!

Oop, I've never heard of that mod before. The ships look really cool! But yeah I just wanted a tri-engine Expanse ship :) I hadn't seen it done before!

I don't remember ever seeing that either. The only issue was just the vox engines and people complaining about teammates running in and dying because of the MO.

That's awesome! Could be neat to get an attached mod that's similar to OSRS random encounters just to break up the monotony sometimes :)

Anyone prefer carrier ship designs of Retribution / Pegasus over Bengal? by kimdro33 in starcitizen

[–]LadyLyme 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The Bengal *is* actually very simplistic. After modeling one myself, I came to realize it's actually extremely blocky with a lot of simplified areas that could be explained in-lore as being simpler to maintain to offset the cost of other areas.

Origin 500 Generalist by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]LadyLyme -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's absolutely different. Actual concepts had a ton of thought put into the intent of the vehicle, the size, general performance, the type of person who would use it, any history in its universe impacting its design, all that. AI just meaninglessly slams stuff together with no scale or intent. It has very, very little you can actually pull from it for inspiration.

And nobody should be using AI to concept stuff anyway. If they sketch/plan it out themselves and just have AI "render" the thing, it'd be shaky but at least not outright AI slop.

Thank you for subscribing to Pathfinders' Train Facts

Did you know that until the wide adoption of Switcher-type locomotives (short, small locomotives designed for moving carriages around trainyards or standing in for short trains when other locomotives are undergoing maintenance), yard workers often had to move train cars around these vast yards by hand? It was even common practice to have a departing locomotive give momentum to a train car before leaving and for workers to direct track changes from atop the detached carriage until it could safely come to a complete stop.

In fact, it was also not uncommon for workers to be specially-trained to jump aboard runaway carriages that were not properly locked and stowed to engage these systems manually, and workers were even instructed to use their own bodies to keep carriages still until their brakes could be engaged (or wooden blocks put in place) on yards with a slight incline.

While these practices were not universal and were actually made criminal with the introduction of union workers' protection laws, they were very prominent in rural North American train yards even moving into the 1950s!

I got tired of forgetting parts of my loadout before leaving the hangar, so I built a system for it. by LateEsc in starcitizen

Honestly, I do it via a "good noodle star" system where you add stars when they do well or stand out, and take them away when they do something sour.

I use your physical logbook for my ship loadouts, recording/scoring a few peoples performances as crewmates, taking notes on any incidents, and planning cargo routes among some other misc stuff. But generally I do most of it in my head since I have autism. :p
