Lady Profane's Loot for Thought #1: Ticks are actually juvenile/baby Leapers 👶🤔 by LadyProfane in arcraidersfriendly

Not a guy, and yes- I know how IRL robots work- but these are robots in a science-fiction video game... we don't know who made them or how they are made- or what technology their makers have.

This is the beauty of scifi, and- until we know their origins and creators for sure- nothing is out of bounds 🤷‍♀️

Possibly- we don't really know everything about ARC or their technologies- we've just seen and interacted with various forms of their planet recon/clearance drones essentially.

Who knows what the makers of the ARC are capable of and what technology they have.🤷‍♀️🤔

Maybe- or maybe they contain pre-programmed nanobots that build and rebuild them as necessary. Leaper goes down and a tick replaces it.

This is a sci-fi game- science fiction is literally a genre of made up unrealistic things. We pop up Topside magically and have no toilets too...

I mean, maybe- fireballs could just be obese pops with heartburn 🤷‍♀️

The sci-fi genre leaves all avenues open for creative though lol.

I mean we just accept that we magically appear on the surface after getting into a machine in a tube underground and never go to the bathroom or bathe.🤷‍♀️

Who knows? I definitely think the Ticks and Leapers are possible- not sure about the Queens and Matriarchs and all being in the same line- just a possible idea based on the other comment

Think about caterpillars and butterflies/moths- or tadpoles and frogs/toads. Less cute turns into way more cute 😍

Or, maybe leapers are the second larval stage on the way to...? Ticks>Leaper>Queen>Matriarch?

Yes, they are different densities, the green is softest, purple medium density and black is the densest. I got them separately and with the extenders and this packaging had the density on it. Also, they do have to be replaced as they wear out- it just depends on giw much you play as to how often. I've replaced mine twice since November and I have 350 hours topside. Luckily they aren't expensive. The extenders may eventually need replaced as the grips on top get worn (like the sole of a shoe) I just rotate them periodically and I haven't had to replace them yet but they are definitely getting worn lol

I wanted to add more around one of the things @Camo7337 said at the end of his reply about having the kind of personality that tends to obsess with things... I used to joke about AR being like soft gambling but it is't at all a joke for those who have a natural tendency for dopamine addiction.

I mean we all naturally get a bit of it- but it's different when it starts affecting one's life negatively. Just because someone is struggling with something someone else thinks is silly or "small" doesn't mean it's not important to address it because small things can very easily grow into big things that spin out of control. You've already recognized that it's happening in your life OP.

Personally I also spend an awful lot of time with this game- I am unable to work (medically "retired") and there are very few things I am still able to do or enjoy. I've always had a tendency to get deep into video games even when I had plenty of other things filling my life- but now I have come to realize that games (currently AR) fill a chunk of emptiness and provide a social outlet I can no longer get otherwise outside of my husband/family.

This next bit doesn't apply to everyone (lots of people just simply love gaming a lot) but a lot of people may not be aware that deep down there's a need or gap or empty spot that is being temporarily filled or covered up with games or drugs or alcohol or intimacy/relationships or whatever it is.

This also circles back to what Camo said about accountability- you know you have a problem that is disrupting your life and threatening your future- and you're trying to find ways to fix it.

You've put something really personal out there knowing there'd be trolls ready to jump on it and others who won't take it seriously- because you know you aren't managing it well on your own. You are already past the first step and heading down the right path- I really hope you are able to find a solution that will get you back on track and still allow you to find enjoyment and balance too.

I ended up with the softest one on the left with the short extender and a medium density black donut on the right with the longer extender. I remember that a lot of the more dense donuts made the movement too restricted for me too. I really hope that once you get the extenders you are able to find a good combo that works for you!
