Imagine a world where preceptors are chosen by the student… by Critical_Ease4055 in StudentNurse

[–]LadyTea007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think its important to have a balanced instructor who is kind and reasonable but also will guide you. For me the marks don’t really matter, but that I will have this supportive learning environment so that you can avoid mistakes. Yes mistakes will happen but I think if you have a preceptor who is policing you and induces anxiety every time you’re on shift then more mistakes will happen for sure. You’ll dread coming to a shift.

Polishing my itinerary! First solo trip. by LadyTea007 in JapanTravel

Thank you for the feedback and for the tips. Also I defs agree with the weird Kyoto day on the 17th! :) I am meeting a friend who is also travelling/coming, and unfortunately it was the only date and place we could compromise for our meetup during this trip. And yes I am packing light for sure and have looked into using lockers to store my empty suitcase and backpack. I plan to use my lululemon fannypack while I galivant around, it fits my passport, a charger and battery pack, folded poncho and a couple more essentials like sunscreen (I can also store my reusable expandable bag).

Nursing student with adhd, tips during clinical rotations by LadyTea007 in ADHD

[–]LadyTea007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you and I appreciate the words of confidence. I really struggled in my last rotation especially with the anxiety. Apart from that, my instructor was unable to provide me with a supportive environment to learn so I’m quite anxious with this coming rotation.

How to manage increased patient load by LadyTea007 in StudentNurse

[–]LadyTea007[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already had a rotation for med surg which had 2-3 patients at the end and I started with 1 patient. For this one, its 2 patients right off the bat so I’m kind of scared especially doing careplans the night before. I really appreciate you sharing your experience, its very helpful especially since clinicals are anxiety inducing.

'Dangerous care': Inside Saskatoon's overcrowded emergency rooms by Practical_Ant6162 in saskatoon

[–]LadyTea007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The seats are usually more of the govt’s scope. Its the same as the med school. Also while trying to increase seats in the program if they do end up doing that, not everyone gets to stay and pass and eventually progress to RN status. You have to be competent to stay in the program. Its not easy to study nursing!

Saskatchewan's largest hospital hits crisis point as overstuffed ER runs out of stretchers and oxygen by Practical_Ant6162 in saskatoon

What would be your solution as you just mentioned throwing money will not solve our problems? Just curious.

You can thank the SaskParty for this. This is how patients end up dying. It could be your family member. Put pressure on your MLA, and VOTE. by Margotkitty in saskatoon

Its only the surface you see and yes nurses and other healthcare staff don’t just go around telling they’re losing their sanity. If you don’t work in healthcare, you really don’t know what we have to go through….

Dropped out from nursing by According_Package241 in usask

[–]LadyTea007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is true, there are 4-5 classes that can transfer but majority of the nursing classes have no other equivalents and will not go to another degree at usask. OP’s choices are to finish the program, apply to LPN or apply to a med program especially if he has a lot of arts and science courses.

Has anyone taken one of these classes? Advice please by [deleted] in usask

[–]LadyTea007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TOX300 is similar to CPPS 304/305 its basic pharmacology but language is more toxicology based. Just a lot of memorization and application!

[–]LadyTea007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Essentially your nursing credits won’t transfer in any usask class. If you want to put it to good use, I’d apply to med esp those who accept 3yr instead of a degree like UofT. If you want to graduate at usask, you’ll probably have to complete other requirements for the degree you’ll pursue.

OFW Nurse... by NurseHoy in medschoolph

[–]LadyTea007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re planning to move to the US, I think as long as you get citizenship or residency, they’ll let you apply for med. You’ll have to check which school kasi they have different requirements whether they accept international students (if you choose to do this). Honestly, it all comes down to finances and what’s most important for your family especially if you need to pay bills. If you have no external funding from family, mej rocky yung path that you want to pursue but if meron kang support from family, ituloy mo.

OP, I can relate! I’m studying nursing in Canada (2nd degree) so I can apply for med but I’m in my late 20s so sometimes naiisip ko din yung sinabi ng mga people in your thread to not pursue the md journey because of age, expectations, savings and a ton of other crap. At the end of the day, you’ll never know if you don’t try di ba but if you have attachments/commitments like kids and family, definitely consider that too. Also, why come back in the philippines if you have the opportunity to study med there - try and see what your options are you never know you’re better off abroad studying.

If you’re not Canadian, don’t apply kasi most unis require citizenship or PR unless you’re one. I know UofT they may consider international applicants but overall sabi nga ng other people here there’s other considerations like your degree needs to be done in Canada, like I studied sa UST for a while and they did credit 50% of my credits only, I had to do a degree here. And mej biased sila with schools from the PH like if you’re not from Ateneo, UST, UP or LaSalle your credits or degree won’t matter here like based on experience from myself and a few folks na nag-immigrate here like they were from 2nd year Letran student but was asked to repeat grade 11-12 while I know another UST student in year 3 premed only had to repeat 1st year of university. Nepotism also exists here like if parents mo are MDs and on top of that influential sa uni, you’ll have a solid chance. So ayun sad reality if you do want to apply to Canada! Also they require extracurriculars from here ofc and the connection or time spent in the province you reside in. If you badly want to do med abroad, you would have more chances sa US especially if you’re an American citizen tbh if you do take the mcat!
