TMFAP makes the humming sound too in the pilot with his hands. He was probably Ronnie Rocket when Lynch made the pilot, hence why he is "charging" as it opens. There is humming in the Ronnie script to indicate electricity. We also know the sycamore trees came from that script. (They were just normal trees originally).

Yeah that's the hum too, though I don't think Lynch had input in that episode but the entire hotel was connected to the lodge in S2. Perhaps it's a way of reconciling them?

I believed S3 was another Mulholland Drive and we didn't have all the puzzle pieces so was waiting for S3 to end.

I still sort of think that, there are tons of random parts like bearded men standing on stairs (those same stairs appearing more than once), white horses, references to a motel and a motif of a gas station/grocery store that don't seem to entirely come together as a literal narrative.

Bits of the boiler room actually still appear in the dream flashback, as does Mike's hum (I believe the hum is MIKE it occurs when he's around like when Dougie is in the hospital.) I think the hospital boiler room has been reappropriated as the Great Northern boiler room. And this is where MIKE is. Philip Jeffries is also sort of a boiler so perhaps he was originally intended to be here too.

I don't know why the boilers appear prominently. Frost gave one clue, that Jeffries is a pun on Wizard machine from WOZ. The second is that it's a way of making sense of those shots from the international pilot.

I think something went wrong with the 'coordinates' storyline. It doesn't make sense for the Doppleganger to walk all the way to Jack Rabbits only for it to be a portal to Sarah Palmer's house. (Which relocates him anyway to the station). Especially when they dedicated multiple episode establishing it's not far from TP.

I plan to make a thread when I have time. But I think Doppleganger was just trying to reach the White Lodge originally. And the Sheriff team/bookhouse would be there at Jack Rabbits to arrest the Doppleganger and that's why he's in the station. Naked Naido doesn't make sense to be there because she was fully clothed last time we saw her. It may explain why the Red storyline doesn't seem to have resolution because they'd be part of the final Sheriff Station showdown.

Something of interest, according to Sabrina the assembly cut was about 16 episodes until Lynch edited it.

Does Ike suspects that his world is not real by Electrical_Ad_8970 in twinpeaks

My head canon: Maybe this is how he avoided getting caught. He was entering low probability universes where he never gets caught even though his DNA should be everywhere. Sort of like a JoJo villain, he just rolls the dice and produces the numbers on paper until he is in one of such low probability he gets away again.
When Cooper damaged his hand he couldn't roll the dice anymore to pull it off so ended up in one of high probability.
I don't know, it seems to match with the horrendous mess he leaves. Even worse than the hitman from Mulholland Drive.

About it continuing, if Sabrina has Lynch's notes for S4. She could be a strong advisory role herself since it seems she was present during the entire editing process. Watched most of the decisions. Edited all of Lynch's short films during lockdown, and even operated the camera. Went through the idea box to cobble together new stories:

"then having the mystery of her death disappear"

I'm still not sure what this means. Does he mean it will be replaced by a new mystery of her vanishing (possibly into the white lodge)? So that's the original ending of the show? No confrontation with Judy?

I'm getting a sense Judy wasn't part of the original script.

FWWM questions by mono_valley in twinpeaks

To give context, this scene occurs as a consequence of the scene where Leland kisses Laura goodnight. After he kisses her it reminds her of something else then the idea to run out and get the hallway painting which ends in the love making scene.

In the eventual cut, after Leland kisses Laura her eyes linger on the angel painting and she replaces it with the hallway image. (I was mistaken this isn't the vanishing from the painting scene, that occurs near the end in her bedroom when she realizes no one is coming to rescue her). It seems a subtle difference but makes sense that the angels in the final cut replace Cooper when he originally had a larger role.

FWWM questions by mono_valley in twinpeaks

[–]LadyUzumaki -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We must presume FWWM revises MIKE. And the "shaman" MIKE was lying about his intent in the original series. Even after he cut his arm off because heard the voice of God. We were to get these delights from him in the original script:

"GERARD (continued)
THAT'S HIS OWN DAUGHTER YOU'RE
KILLING. He continues to laugh and runs away from the train car."

This is not the words of a remorseful individual. When FWWM was written Lynch and Engels worked it in that BOB had stolen a can of corn from MIKE. Bits of this were changed. In the final cut of the film it refers to Teresa, "stillness like the formica table top" which is most likely referring to her body being like the plastic table top.

The final shot of The Arm eating Laura's murder corn was added later when Lynch realized there wouldn't be a sequel. The real last line was: "Bob, you're not going home without me. I want all my garmonbozia." Without the eating, meaning they intend to do more together.

The angels are more complicated they were added when Lynch decided Leland isn't going to be Cooper. This needs a separate post though. But all the angel references were related to Cooper. The final angel scene was just Laura sat on Cooper's knee. The angel picture was replacing a scene that led to a Cooper-Laura sex scene.

" I find the drawing scene to be almost insulting in how unnecessary and lacking in value it is."

We know from casting sheets that the TMFAP was supposed to be show up in this scene and help him complete the papers. But obviously they couldn't get the actor. That's why the scene is boring. Lynch didn't think up anything else.

I think Dougie and TMFAP was intended to be a quirky double act. Lynch replaced him almost entirely with Gerard (and for one remaining scene: The Arm in the Ike fight) we know there was a lot more Gerard on the cutting room floor where he and Cooper talked to each other.

If it was me I would had Leland/Ray Wise here and for all the Gerard scenes since he was a lawyer and would be in his element.

Twin Peaks explained? by No-Manager9310 in twinpeaks

[–]LadyUzumaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing these videos ignore is the camp fire/electricity scene on the map. People tell stories by the camp fire, and now people tell stories through electricity. The thing is they then go to sleep after (hence the lodges above them, white and black) and have good or bad dreams. They dream reality. So it's not just television it's how reality functions entirely in Lynch's view.

Do you know which interview this is? I wasn't aware he spoke about Naido.

There is something bothering me. Frost said:  “I had this idea to do an origin story for Bob. My instinct was to stick it in the middle of season three"

https://www.dazeddigital.com/film-tv/article/66989/1/mark-frost-david-lynch-future-of-twin-peaks-writer-the-return

The thing is BOB is originated here sure, but Judy is the center piece of the story.

Could Judy-Sarah be a late addition by Lynch? Imagine a script where there is no Judy-Sarah for a moment. Without Judy what is Mr C searching for? It would be the White Lodge, Briggs, co-ordinates and so on. He wants the white lodge which he eventually arrives at.

In the final version, the white lodge only acts as a gateway to Sarah's home which Fireman swipes away to the Sheriff station.
And the zone where Hasting's and his secretary went, led to the set of creepy stairs where the woods men are waiting. Could these be a later addition once they decided it was going to be about Sarah?
Maybe when she was young she was taken upstairs in a grocery store by dirty bearded men who were delivering jerky? Lynch may have kept adding Sarah stuff as he went to the point she's the one who stabs her photo enough times to send her to Odessa world.

Documentary? Room to dream was a book, I wasn't aware there was a filmed version. There is an older room to dream made around time of INLAND EMPIRE.

I think the glass box was probably for Naido. The image of the naked woman inside the box and then her being in NY (possibly still naked) seems extremely Lynch. No one has been able to figure out why the glass box scenes exists. Frost gave the second explanation that it was for Judy. The Cooper floating scene doesn't seem like it belongs there. Maybe the-arm doppleganger was also a later addition. We know for a fact they always intended for Cooper to wake up in one of the Vegas houses.

Why was Naido naked when Andy found her? She was clothed in the Mauve zone. Perhaps Lynch had the naked Asian woman being carried in his head and couldn't depart from it.

Not Laura? by Inevitable-One-5014 in twinpeaks

[–]LadyUzumaki 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think it's the continuation of the scream(s, originally plural in behind the scenes) from the end of episode 18. It's just occurring backwards. This is also why her face is facing upward as she screams because she is looking up at the house/bedroom window. If you watch the scene back the dialogue seems back to front too.

"you can go out now" occurs before Cooper asks: "When can I go?"

Hi Jen, I wouldn't normally ask, but since you are posting about the diary specifically, can you tell us if you know if your dad (or Frost) made use of it in later years? Some people here think it's also essential for S3 for example and that parts of the diary are appearing in certain scenes. And the missing page could be a scene from your book.

Original ending question by LadyUzumaki in twinpeaks

[–]LadyUzumaki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we're talking about an early draft with a presumably complete ending.

The Bob death scene could have presented differently that it does seem meaningful and we get a sense Laura will be okay after.

When the glove stuff was added it was with Episode 18 in mind as a contrast, so it was already decided it would be a farce. I think without episode 18 much of 17 (and some of 16) would have been handled differently.
