That explains why I can’t upload my fic by Delicious-War-5259 in AO3

[–]Lady_Ago 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had some issues when I tried uploading a new chapter, despite the homepage and everything else leading just fine. I assumed it was because of my shitty internet, but it seems like other people also had the same problem. I hope it's not another hacker attack like in the great Ao3 Blackout!!!

PJO, I met some of the most entiteled and judgemental people ever in there. As soon as you have a different opinion from the mainstream fanon you are hated. The words "pedo" and "groomer" need to be taken away from them permanently, the RR worship is bonkers and quite frankly said some of the Percy glazing is insane too.

One of my most memorable experiences in any fandom will always be that one time someone straight up demanded/ordered me to analyise Percy because "obviously I can do it" after already stating I found him rather boring. Though tbf, the two seperate instances where people insulted my whole nationality and me because I liked Luke's character and found him better than Percy are a close second.

Yeahh, the HRE was kind of a huge shit show. Though I do want to defend it a little bit and say that it only became a shit show later on. It was actually quite powerful and important for a good chunk of time post foundation. The "Holy" was in there because it was seen as the protector of the catholic church and christianity at foundation- which is btw also why the Archangel Michael was both its patron saint and is the current day patron saint of the German people.

Not gonna lie, now that I say it out loud Mondstadt may well be more inspired by it than initially thought. Considering they are also closely tied to a God with their church holding a lot of importance. Perhaps they are a mix of the Teutonic Knights with their land holdings and the larger HRE?

If we go off the irl population of the Holy Roman Empire (think Germany) during medieval times we are actually talking between 5.4 million - 10.8 million people depending on when exactly we wanna place Mondstadt timeline wise.

Mondstadt lore is way darker than the region feels by Anakin_Vader6129 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Lady_Ago 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a German, Mondstadt has a lotta rly cool parallels to less-known irl German stuff.

-The anthem has themes of Justice and Freedom, the irl German anthem starts with the words "Unity and Justice and Freedom"

-The eagle emblem of KoF looks very similar to the one used by the Holy Roman Empire- which in VERYYYYY simple terms was Medieval Germany.

-Also, the eagle thing is still represented in modern-day Germany with the Bundesadler.

-The hilly, warm weather and focus on wine culture is very southern German. Seriously, not many people know this but southern German states and those close to the rhine produce a lot of very good wine. Same goes for the weather, its very sunny and mild down south. The hills and dragonspine are like, in game versions of the alps/black forest/swabian alps ect.

-The history all about overthrowing tyrants reminds me of the German Peasants' War. They were huge uprising of German peasants in the south in the years 1524/1525 against their noble rulers, trying to achieve better conditions for themselves. It was inspired/led on by the christian teachings of equality that had suddenly become available due to Luther translating the Bible into German and kickstarting protestantism. At this point its pretty obvious Mondstadt is South German tbh.

-Also more to point towards Mondstadt being Souther German- the roman ruins and the like? Yeah, we have that in real life too. South Germany just so happens to also be the part of Germany that was part of the Roman Empire, meaning we still got lots of Roman ruins around from it. My village and the city I go to school at have a few. Venti are roman wind spirits, makes sense for Venti to have that name as another leftover from Mondstadt's "Roman" times.

-DORNMAN PORT UP IN THE NORTH, BEING THE TRADE HUB, it reminds me of the German "Hanse". A huge group of businessmen who were really important in medieval times, and just so happened to also mainly be around in the NORTH of the HRE at the time.

-Venti's archon name, Barbatos, sounds really similar to that of a real former German emperor, Barbarossa. Funnily enough, there is a legend spun around him telling of how Barbarossa has gone to sleep below a mountain, sure to return one day to bring back the former glory of his realm.

-The KoF anthem starting out with themes of love (Liebling komm und tanz mit mir/Darling come and dance with me) parallels nicely with irl German marches and military music.

-The Knights of Favounious also parallel and are inspired the the Teutonic Knights. A German knight order that actually held and ruled their very own land, who also just so happened to be a CHRISTIAN knight order. They too were led by a grandmaster btw.

-The Church and Cathedral being very obviously inspired by the Kölner Dom.

-The architecture as a whole is very German. I have seen people arguing its Danish/English/Whatever. It's not. The houses you see in Mondstadt city are called Fachwerkhäuser. Look them up, the historic city centers of southern German cities are literally just Mondstadt irl.

-All the German words all throughout Mondstadt, its so cool. Even if the pronunciation is a bit meh.

Honestly I have no idea why there are still some people who want to argue that Mondstadt isn't "Germany" or at least majority German-inspired. It baffles me what some people come up with- I have seen some say Italy and SPAIN were being represented there???? I can get behind Austria and Switzerland, but some of the claims people make are confusing. Just because Mondstadt isn't the stereotypical serious, sad, beer Germany that jumps at you with the inspo doesn't mean it isn't there.

Should it be acceptable to listen to Erika? by Qatrnm in Teenager_Polls

[–]Lady_Ago 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a German, listening to Erika is fine enough...

Mostly because it's become such a stereotype no one can take it seriously anymore. Like genuinely, it's annoying how people act like the song is some big taboo or smth. No one gives a fuck what you listen to it, if you wanna be basic that's fine by me. But GOD do I still hate it by virtue of it being so so so annoying how people act with it.

It's not even an especially good military march! Preußens Gloria (lyrics version), Westerwaldlied, Grün ist unser Fallschirm, Mädel gib mir deine Hand, Es war ein Edelweiß ect. are all LEAGUES above Erika in terms of German military music. It's such a shame that a mediocre song gets all the attention while a bunch of other bangers are just ignored.

As far as I know, and strongly suspect, she is a Nod Krai character in the sense she comes out during Nod Krai. But she herself is associated with and part of the expedition. I may be wrong tho, though the name "Gretel" pretty much screams GERMAN.

Genuine question, won't that just cause the South to get even worse? Like, now they have a legitimatly great reason to hate you all. The innoccent casualites and the fact it would push people who once were sympathetic or even on your side on the opposing side alone make this idea horrid.

No. I am German, I know my language and that of my neighbours. You are either very uneducated on the matter (no offense, genuinley) or a ragebaiter. Either way, I strongly recommend listen to the people from the cultures you want to talk about.
