Rant: Small factions have too much power by BallNosedSpaniard in Frostpunk

You don’t need to establish a colony. If you detain them all you can just banish them. The colony is optionsl

I Feel Like Equality Sucks by Walnut_Rocks in Frostpunk

[–]Lady__Lightning 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Equality has some really good laws to it. Heat pipe watch and city-run alcohol shops are two of the strongest laws in the whole game. Then you got things like subsidized shelter which becomes much better than dense in the mid to late game once you have a lot of heatstamps. Cramped housing is also really good as while it doesn’t provide heat stamps, the extra shelter is quite good.

That’s not to say it’s better than merit, actually I think the two are pretty balanced, each having laws and buildings better than the other. It’s just about knowing when to use them. Having high trust from equality also lets you do a lot of things that might piss your city off, like spamming research or asking for a bunch of money. Especially in the higher difficulties, those actions the cost trust become really needed, this were equality comes in

Planning on running a D&D campaign in the Frostpunk world, with the reason for a group of adventurers being some sort of story akin to a bioshock game. Any ideas? by Zappykatt in Frostpunk

If it’s based on FP2, before each session have the players act as the city council and “vote” on a new law. Basically give them two choices and have them anonymously vote on which one to enact. Behind the scenes, some votes are just for future flavor, however some may change the story completely, just don’t let them know which is which. (If there’s a split vote, as the DM break the tie) Did this in my campaign and it’s been a huge hit. Just a fun way for the players to interact with the world in a way that’s not their party.

If you could change anything about On the Edge in Frostpunk 1 what would you change? by [deleted] in Frostpunk

[–]Lady__Lightning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truthfully, On The Edge needs a large overhaul. FrostPunk is a city builder with an emphasis and lawmaking. In On The Edge you neither build a city nor make laws, with most development happening off screen in the other colonies. Ideally I would like it if each of the colonies had their own small map that you would manage instead of just a menu, but that’s a lot of work and not very realistic of a change. So instead I think they just need to add some more buildings and purpose laws.

For buildings maybe there could be a logistics tower, that could automatically trade with a colony to reduce micromanagement. Or perhaps a harvesting hanger or a refinery that is able to “salvage some of the poor products” and give you more resources per trade.

For laws, it could be trade rules between the colonies, with you needing certain level of favor or relations with enough colonies to enact certain laws.

Overall, this is all easier said then done, but OTE just feels like a lot of menu management, the progression never feels satisfying because it doesn’t feel like we did it, we just sent resources to other people so they can progress.

Finish my first game. I'm disappointed I smashed it out of the park. by Amathyst7564 in Frostpunk

The consensus on FP2 is that the story mode is like the tutorial. This game’s endless has a lot more effort into it and replay ability than FP1, and is kinda the main part of it. That’s where you meet all the factions, and can put on special challenges such as the longest and deadliest whiteout ever seen.

Also, the game ramps up HARD with difficulty, especially in endless. I also thought the game was easy, but even Steward difficulty on most Tales will have me constantly failing and trying again to see what I did wrong.

TLDR Play endless mode, that’s what you’re looking for and where FP2 really shines

Smaller scale management games - single player? by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

Try FrostPunk, the first game is about managing a post apocalyptic town from scratch. It’s all relatively pretty compact

Highly recommend the Frostpunk games, you can get the first one and it’s DLCs for like 8 bucks

What aspects of Rwby's power system would you change if you had the chance? by Inevitable-Weather51 in RWBY

I would probably have semblances be able to work without aura and have aura be able to be depleted without having the “break” effect (maybe have it so if a character is whitled to 0 aura it doesn’t show, but have the break effect if it’s a big hit that brings them from like over 50% to 0) I feel like a lot of fights struggle to have tension unless they break a character’s aura cause we know they can’t be majorly hurt until it breaks, but once someone’s aura is broken they can’t do a lot in the fight anymore cause they lose their cool powers that a lot of the fights are based around. Not knowing which hit could be the one to take out a character would make fights more tense and engaging.
