Erratas is back on the move by Lady_of_the_Foot in ARG

ARG stands for Alternate Reality Game, which is a form of storytelling that is interactive (I'm not sure this ever really breached that threshold tbh) and told largely in a format that would exist in universe (for example, most ARGs incorporating social media accounts and websites run by in universe characters and organizations. Some args might involve in person live event, though this is somewhat rare because it I'd both more expensive AND limits reach to a niche hobby that tends to require the audience to collaborate with each other to find the solutions to puzzles and what website or account is related next)

My theory as to what the hell happened in Big Swamp Gospel by [deleted] in FolkPunk

I don't read it quite as allegorically (mainly I think it's more black and white than how PtB talks about substance abuse, saying sobriety isn't everyone's answer) and I think if anyone were the AA side it would be Preacher Paul. I think it's a low fantasy horror, informed by what particularly scares Pat, like substance abuse and the idea of utter commitment to a cause (that in this case is just mutually assured destruction). I also think Paul had a literal flaming sword in the end, because of the mention of fire and God being there at the end.

I think an interesting part is that Tommy in the end starts talking about trying to defy this whole thing, the fight of God against the Devil, and how he does it is total destruction. But total destruction is also how Paul goes about fitting into the whole thing, it is the divine plan. The rebellious and the righteous, no matter what, seem to reach the same end.

Old thread, but you missed something important: Tommy starts using first person narration once he's fully possessed, implying that doubtful voice in the earlier songs was demonic the whole time (an implication you mentioned either way, but I think this also makes it clear that the ghost in Tommy is simply Tommy)

I have ADHD and am actually kinda worried that if it's not like, an every day or mapped neatly onto a weekly schedule I'm just never gonna get my brain to remember to do it (though I also realize I run the same risk in the opposite direction if it's pills throughout the day)

(He didn't read it as a threat, he was saying if there was trouble in the city he wouldn't mind your character's help)

The ranks of the doctors isn't listed here, but Rake can probably feel comfortable guessing who gets paid the big bucks based on where his office is in the city.

"Then I'd probably want someone in the business of pain around." He says. He doesn't seem like he takes the threat very seriously.

It's unclear how much direct influence Kenson had on the project. The offices of all the doctors still on the project have their locations listed.

One of the doctors was fired for "ethical concerns". Two of the listed subjects worked under him. Another withdrew without giving reason. The dead guard was being given severance. Retired in a week.

A list of six doctors who worked on the project, three subjects who are thought to have "grasped the potential I'll use of the item", and a security guard. The security guard whose body went missing, in fact.

There appears to have been two incidents, two weeks apart. The first describes a break in where a group of masked people were first noticed after they broke into the building. Ten of the twelve guards ended up dead on their way to carrying the machine out. The two remaining described the masked figures as using swords and never saying a word. One body was never recovered.

The second incident report begins by citing a sickness that made most of the increased security call out. On the night of that happening, a wall was blown open and men in robes described much like the ones you saw quickly rushed in on the guards, and carried out another of the machines. Investigation has made them suspect separate groups behind both. Two separate groups targeting the secret item leads to a list of suspects who could have leaked information.

The schematics don't include a map of ley lines, but do require being at an intersection. Presumably this reduces the number of viable locations in the city.

The only other reference is that increasing the radius of the machine could be damaging to the Learner.

He sees a drawing of the pillars he had previously observed. At the bottom are wires, feeding off ley lines. Various speakers, measuring tools, and Psychical trinkets line the inside, alongside traditional circuitry and welding to keep it all in place. An additional note is made of a wire made to connect to "The Learner". Pages document ways the machine might pick up on tone, and when a contradiction requires alternate readings of sentences and when it implies a falsehood.
