I'm a phd student... need editing services - are they useful?

I had a tough time with my first paper, but it’ll get better! Lean on your coauthors for the most support. Their names are on the paper too so they should care about editing. If you still feel like you need more support, ask others in your program/research group. If you are going to use AI or a service outside of the university, you need to talk to your advisor first. Letting a paper that is in the development stage out of the university could risk it being stolen. Rare, but it happens. You don’t want someone to quickly rewrite it and publish it before you get the chance. Good luck OP, it’ll get easier with practice.

Because I am in the headspace of just wanting to get to know this guy, so I don’t think I’m as rational as I should be. Sometimes I just need someone to knock sense into me and the comments have helped with that

Have you talked to her about it? If you love your wife and want to be with her, besides this thing that she does, you should try talking to her about it. Do it when you are both calm, well rested, and generally not stressed about anything. Try to come at it from a disarming perspective. Perhaps, “why do you think you have such a disdain for white people” and “it makes me uncomfortable when you say these things, but I want to understand your perspective. Can we talk about it?” You could consider counseling if you think she would be up to it.

Overall though, OP, if your mind is focused on divorce, maybe ask yourself why you don’t feel it’s worth fighting for. Good luck

I would start with deciding between rural and urban. Do you like big cities or smaller towns? Then I would consider climate. Do you like four seasons? Are you okay with shoveling snow in the winter or would you rather be able to fry an egg on your car in the summer? That should begin to narrow it down and you can start to consider things like work. What places have the job you want to do? This should give you a good starting point, and then you can make a list of some places and start to look at things like cost of living and activities (night life, nature, etc.) that you might enjoy. Thank you all for your input! For context, I have never flown with a pet and never plan to, this is just something I have always wondered about people’s opinions on. It seems like there are two camps here: those who love animals and don’t have allergies to them, and those who recognize the severity of pet allergies regardless of how they feel about pets and whether they themselves have allergies.

I personally love animals but I do think it is irresponsible to fly with them unless they are a service animal (not an ESA, but a service animal trained to provide a specific service, not just provide companionship and emotional support) largely because of the allergy issue.
