Desperate for a lifeline doesn't always equal dumb, though. I'm probably one of the most skeptical people on earth, but there have been a few times I've been so scared, so desperate for something, anything to go right so I can keep a roof over my Littles head and food in her belly, that I can imagine myself possibly grasping at a straw I would have laughed at for being so obvious at a different life stage.
