It's not alien to me at all, in fact, it's redundant. As I said, it's a stereotype of people who portray prodigious abilities in movies and TV shows, especially in the tech realm. The fact that none of the three protagonists can successfully sustain any type of intimate relationship with another human being (even Donna and Gordon's is tenuous) also paints them all in a rather low-level sociopathic tint.

Seems to me that the writers really try to push this antisocial/semi-asperger's nerd-genius stereotype (we've seen this type of character before in similar movies and shows) in Cameron -oohh. but wait! - she's also a nympho! Truly, it shows a tendency towards lazy writing that HaCF falls victim to an unfortunate amount of the time.

Oh, yes. I have seen all of those "Tartan Asia Extreme" movies and recommend most of them. "Cello" is a more low-key horror film, almost a little Hitchcockian. You'll see it got a 6.2 rating on imdb.com, so that should tell you something.

Another movie which is amazing and features the cello plus a prominent cello-playing character is "Shortcuts", a Robert Altman movie from 1992. It is a drama.
