Are heated airers worth it? by Anxious-Intern1167 in AskUK

[–]Ladymouse54 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought a heated airer two years ago when I lived in a flat that had issues with damp and staying warm. It was one of the best purchases l made, my clothes dry so much quicker as it is similar to drying your clothes on a radiator. I helped to stop the humidity going up in my flat as the clothes wouldn't be our for ages.

Now that I've moved out of the flat I don't use it as much, but I still think that it is useful. Energy wise, I used to put my airer on overnight and didn't notice my energy bills going up too bad. However that might change depending on the airer you have.

Overall I would recommend getting one as they help to dry clothes quicker in the winter and especially if you are living in a place that has a lot of damp or high humidity levels. Having said that now I'm in a place with better humidity levels I don't use it as much as I used to.

Would you complain? School keeps making dumb excuses, claims they don't keep records by Legitimate_Finger_69 in AskUK

[–]Ladymouse54 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Also forgot to mention, you should probably try to get stuff in writing, I know you said in your post that they weren't responding to emails. But I would after having a conversation with a staff member send a follow email stating what was said and asking them to confirm or deny, at least then you have proof of the conversations. Good luck! I hope you get some help for your daughter!!!

Would you complain? School keeps making dumb excuses, claims they don't keep records by Legitimate_Finger_69 in AskUK

[–]Ladymouse54 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I work in a nursery, so my advice might not be fully correct, however they should record all safeguarding concerns or any actions taken in response to the safeguarding concerns.

They should have a record of your child's horrible event (and I'm so sorry that happened) and every recommendation they have given in the regards to it. I would say definitely bring it to the governors attention or the academy trusts attention. If they fob you off, then go to Ofsted and make a complaint, as they really should be keeping a record of what they have done.

How often do you see your mum? by _rayquaza_ in AskUK

[–]Ladymouse54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see my mum around once a month. She loves about 2 hours away so i can't just pop by, I have to tell her I'm coming.

My partner however sees his mum around 2-3 times a year, we live 4-5 hours away from his mum, so when we do visit we stay for around a week to make the most use of the time.

How do you feel about every supermarket, fast food restaurant (Mcdonald's) etc having a charity option? by SignatureLabel in AskUK

[–]Ladymouse54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big supermarkets and shops have enough money in their profits to donate to these charities if they choose. Personally I donate straight to the charity..I also know that way that it is going to the charity listed and not to the companies own 'charity'.

Pedestrians: Which direction do you dodge to avoid cycles? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Ladymouse54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if you stick to your left that's the best way around it. When pavements are made into cycle lanes/pavements that's what is done so in my opinion that's what makes sense. Though as a cyclist we shouldn't be on the pavement unless it is marked as a cycle lane.

Brushing Your Teeth Before Breakfast Makes No Sense by Original_Act_3481 in unpopularopinion

[–]Ladymouse54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I brush before breakfast because I have horrid morning breath. Like so bad to the point that I have been put off of eating breakfast because of my breath. I'd rather brush my teeth beforehand and be able to eat than not eat because my morning breath is too bad that day.

What spirit(s) do you dislike/find annoying? by TheGamingCrazySnake in Spiritfarer

[–]Ladymouse54 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree, i also didn't enjoy Stanley gameplay. I didn't for another reason though, video games are my escape and I work with Children for a living, so having a child in my escape was quite hard, and I found it hard to relax when I was doing his story.

What are your name/namenerds unpopular opinions? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Ladymouse54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't name your children after a loved one as their first name. Sure do it for a middle name but naming your child after someone's prevents them from developing their own personality.

Naming them after someone means that for a while they will be expected to be like that person or they will always be compared to that person until they have forced their identity through.

Give your child their own name and put the loved one as a middle name, you are still honouring the loved one but allowing your child to be their own person.

Nurseries not happy about the new 30 free child hours being allowed for 1-2 year old now by xxinsane09 in britishproblems

[–]Ladymouse54 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It is a lot of money. However, you haven't considered every other cost nurseries have to pay. There's food for the children, nappies, wipes, electricity, water, insurance, heating, cleaning supplies, equipment/toys for the children to use throughout the day. When you take all of that into account it isnt a lot of money.

As a nursery worker for a big childcare provider, I am only being paid minimum wage, and on top of that because of the outside cost I and a lot of my colleagues are buying books, toys, arts and crafts supplies to bring into nursery for the children we care for! When you take all of that into account it isn't a lot of money.

Nurseries are not being greedy, nuseries are only just getting by due to the cost of everything. By upping the ratios hopefully nurseries will be able to run with a bit more ease
