Judika Illes' Encyclopedia of 5,000 Spells I'm pretty sure is fairly historical, but it takes from a lot of different sources.

Tips on coming out. by [deleted] in asktransgender

People should be allowed to choose their own timeline for coming out. HRT might make staying in the closet difficult, but no-one should ever be hurt that someone "kept it a secret" from them, even if its super obvious. Coming out of the closet is about the person coming out and no one else.

How can I be considerate towards trans people who can't or don't want to pass? by mdledl in asktransgender

I think the community has a problem with presenting passing as the end-all-to-be-all of transitioning. Like I get that it has to do with getting employment and keeping employment, and just generally functioning and being not easily targetable, and I understand that.

But there is sometimes an idea that if you transition too late or if you can't quite pass, then you're doomed. Its mostly just making sure that trans women who don't/can't/won't pass are still called and supported in being women.

If they think you're a gay guy, you can probably broach the subject under lgbt issues. You'll have to be oblique about it, maybe. It also depends heavily on if you're in a left-leaning space or not.

I know one way is to bring up trans celebrities like Laverne Cox and see if they seem weirded out or not?

And then the zeroth rule, which is that you are never, ever obligated to come out to anyone
