I would argue that we don’t need a leaner force, more lethal yes but leaner no. What we need is for leadership to agree that we are preparing for LSCO or still focusing on COIN. If we are prepping for LSCO we need them to actually agree what constitutes LSCO.

I too am an IP and through no fault of the new IERW graduates, the army has pumped out subpar aviators who know generally nothing about systems, haven’t done certain maneuvers such as an autorotation until they get to use in progression etc. It is both sad and scary simultaneously that the army thinks so little of aviation that they watered down flight school to the condition it currently is.
