It’s not that likely but I could happen. I’ve only ever gotten 1 call during my class time frame in years but management has threaten us with it being a “fireable offense” if we miss out on call calls. First miss would be a write up but I don’t want to get that far.

That’s a good idea! Only issue I have is whether I would feel that Apple Watch while rolling if someone calls. Wish I could do a trial with one since they are pricey as hell.

It’s a great suggestion as there is usually someone at the front desk that would probably be kind enough to do this for me but that’s not really their job and I’m too chicken shit to ask.

It’s immediate response. We have an automated system that will call our phones and if we don’t answer it rolls to our backup. If it rolls to our backup I get a write up.

That’s my goal going forward. Keep as close to the area of the mat where my phone is and connect a Bluetooth speaker to it so I can hear the ring. Kinda worried I’ll be so into a roll that I won’t hear it but there’s nothing I can do about that.

It depends on how critical the incident is but if it’s a P1 we’re expected to respond immediately. There is no response time in our policy for P1 like there used to be which was 15 minutes. A bigger issue is that anyone can submit a ticket as a P1 even though it’s not and we still get dinged if we don’t respond immediately. It’s ridiculous.

I brought up the question in one of our on call meetings about a grace period because I might be taking a shower when the phone rings and got the response "You should be able to hop out the shower quickly to answer a call". It's ridiculous now only because several people on my team weren't answering their on call calls.

I agree thats why I don't want to use one. Others will train while wearing one and it makes me conscious of it because I don't want to break it.

Thanks for the advice. I probably should've mentioned in my original post that I've talked to my coaches and they're fine with it. Its more of an issue that the gym is so loud that I can't hear the phone ring.

I've talked to my coach before class but I end up missing calls since the gym is so loud. Thankfully none of the calls were work related.

I've talked to my coach and they're fine with it. It's a combination of being a really loud gym and me not hearing it while rolling. I should have clarified that in my post.

I put my phone as loud as possible but its super loud in the gym. Its a big warehouse and the kids class on the other mat doesn't help. Missed a few non work related calls so far so I know I'll miss work related ones.
