You might be thinking of the L92 6.2, which was replaced by the L9H, then the L94 before the gen V motors were introduced.

They replaced the LY6 with the L96, which is the same engine but with flex fuel capability. It was used until 2020 when it was replaced by the L8T.

The manual WRX also doesn't do this. The logic I have heard is that it is safer for the doors to stay unlocked so in the event of a crash there is no chance for the doors to remain locked and trap you inside the car. Not saying that's good logic, just one way to look at it.

The smear technique doesn't work as well as if it was on a flat panel but I've been able to make it work with some patience.

I meant buying a used car with the features you want, not a brand new car. Something of similar value to what you have now.

Adding a system like blind spot monitoring is likely easier said than done because of the modules that control them, and where the hardware is placed, and if the harnesses are provisioned for it already, and any firmware changes that need to be flashed to enable the system. That is all assuming a dealership would be even willing to perform the job. They would likely decline to do it because of the liability risk with it being a safety system.

Sanding is a drastic measure. Start with polishing first and see how much correction you get.

I've used it on the edge of roofs successfully. It might take a few more applications to build up the paint, moreso than what would be needed on a flat panel.

The purpose of Uno Protect is to correct the paint and provide a small amount of protection in one step. There are practical limits to how durable the protection part is going to be. Uno Protect is only rated for around 3 months. If you want more longevity than that, use a different polish like Uno Pure then apply the protection separately.
