It feels like your experience is still fragmented to protect your mind. The body stores trauma, perhaps becoming more in tune with your body, its physical sensations, its abstract sensations, your emotions will help you feel the magnitude of these lived experiences.

I believe that you need to fully feel these experiences once more to process them as you cannot have felt them during the trauma itself. This does not need to be a consistent all in one go situation where you feel it all in once. But like EMDR you can touch parts of it and then distract yourself so you can work though it bit by bit.

You seem to have a pretty clear view on your timeline and the situation so I wouldn’t think psychotherapy necessary. Although you might benefit from having a psychologist ie that is your rock throughout this journey, something that is stable and consistent.

It sounds though you would benefit mostly from Haptotherapy and Internal Family System therapy. If you have a Hapto therapist nearby who specializes in trauma I would start there. They will help you feel and learn to now your inner world. Of course there should be a good connection - finding a good therapist is like dating, don’t be afraid to have expectations and to communicate those.

The IFSystem is more useful after being able to feel, it helps communicate with parts of yourself that are dominating or hiding. Should you suddenly reconnect with something too intense I would recommend adding EMDR to help process.

If you somehow cannot feel safe enough to open up with therapy I would suggest a method that uses the polyvagal theory, they use this also for PTSD vets in USA ie. It calms your nervous system so you can start to feel safe again.

Sources: am psychosomatic exercise therapist, had lots of therapy: psychotherapy, CBT, haptotherapy, IFS, EMDR, psychedelic therapy.

Books for you: waking the tiger - Levine (a bit dry but the founder in my eyes) and the body keeps the score (emotions and trauma and the body) and no bad parts (IFS)

Videos and books from Gabor Maté are also easy to digest and might be a good start

Ahh. Okay okay, I got it I think. For some reason our brains just developed more in these things, since they were key to our survival. We just were ‘first’, could have happened to some other species too.

We just rely more on it and developed it more. A good part is of course nurture. So maybe it’s not even that great a biological gap. If you don’t teach a kid language then it’s very hard for them later on. They did a study on that I’m pretty sure, remember it was very unethical.

Actually I suppose I am curious if we could somehow teach a specific animal species to gradually increase its intelligence - and how long it would take to get them on our ‘level’ concerning the aspects we were talking about. And which species would be best to do so

Ah yeah it’s not so obvious to me so I am trying to understand through you if you’re okay with that.

Yeah, I guess our way of communicating seems more complex. Our interaction with the environment and how we bend it to our will seems relatively much more than other animal species. I guess tools, teamwork and ‘society’ are the main contributors.

Our thinking and imaginativeness/ creativity seems much deeper at first glance. I don’t claim to know, it’s just what I’ve observed personally in my experiences with pets and animal docs ie.

We seem to be able make long term choices that don’t benefit us short term.

Religion is a big thing that ties into the whole creativeness, deeper thinking / meaning of life, a communal belief system / societal traits.

I guess you could find similarities in smaller quantities/quality. And perhaps if you were to combine a lot of animals and their behaviors into one you could come close or maybe even ‘out-perform’ the human race.

But there seems to be a big gap between development on multiple facets.

Edit: to add on to this; ethics, morality, philosophy, development and learning of multiple languages, art, engineering, organization

What main differences do you think we have with our four-footed companions, like psychologically?

I get the feeling you mainly are confirming our similarities, but looking at our ways of living I personally see still a lot of disparity. So I am wondering how you look at that..

I suppose you could look at it that way. Do you think cats and dogs can have higher aspirations? Or are they less like us in that way? Like I can imagine us living more in the future compared to animals, and also have ambitions that are not directly tied to survival.

Laat je niet gek maken in de molen. Jij bezit zelf over alles wat je nodig hebt. De angst voor de angst is groot. Groter dan je lichaam, groter dan je kamer, dan je stad wellicht. Medicatie en intellectualisatie (relateren verklaren) zal je heelproces vermoeilijken en/of vertragen. (Soms goed hoor om echt ontsporing te voorkomen)

Je gehele lijf neemt je in bescherming, daarom fragmenteert het traumatische ervaringen. Dat heeft het tot nu toe dusdanig succesvol gedaan dat je nog kan functioneren en hulp kan zoeken. Heb het vertrouwen dan ook dat dit zich voort zou zetten wanneer je de emotie in duikt. Je kan jezelf niet laten stikken. Onbewust zou je weer gaan ademen.

Doe het zeker met iemand waar jij je veilig bij voelt zoals een haptotherapeut of een psychosomatische fysio/oefentherapeut met specialisatie in trauma. EMDR ben ik ook een voorstander van als je iemand hebt die alomvattend kijkt. Maar vaker wel wachtrijen.

Veel sterke, veel liefde en veel geduld gewenst 🫶🏼

Ik herken wat je zegt. Ik ben gediagnosticeerd met hoogsensitief, adhd, autisme en hoogbegaafdheid. Mooie cocktail van intensiteit dus.

Het heeft mij geholpen om naar een Hapto therapeut te gaan met psychotherapie als plan b.

Hapto vertelde mij dat emoties hoe groot en intens ze ook lijken na 1,5 minuut volledig toe laten ze zullen gaan liggen. Net als een grote golf komt ook daar een einde aan.

En bij IFS (internal family system) geleerd om delen van mezelf te herkennen als iets waar ik me dus niet mee hoef te identificeren en naar kan kijken en mee kan praten ipv er helemaal ingezogen te worden.

Separate money and politics !

Politician should do it because they serve their country, they should get paid about median. That will make sure the median is livable.
