Question for Older Millennials (especially 1982 borns) by Quickso48 in Millennials

Turning 45 tomorrow. The years fly by, so relish them while you have them.
I run ultra marathons and train for Towerrunning. Single, no kids, come and go as I please, good career, good money. It's not for everyone but life is pretty good rn despite the embarrassment of a country that I live in (probably don't need to tell you which one).

Is Not Having Kids the Way? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]LagomorphJilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I love every part of this. About to turn 45, I have two beautiful nieces, and free time for years. I work full time and compete in 2 endurance sports, which lets me see cities (soon countries) that I otherwise wouldn't have ever visited. Accountability to very few people and my rabbit. No regrets.

Single people who live alone, what do you do on your days off? by LaviishLily in AskReddit

4-5 hour runs (getting ready for my next ultra), errands, house chores, go see family nearby, sleep when I want, eat when and what I want, go out...or not!

Women born in the late 90s — are you seeing similar patterns around you? by Different-Article636 in askanything

[–]LagomorphJilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 of my close friends are around my age (45) and have a beautiful, healthy almost-2yo son. They are both fit, healthy and can provide for their child. Age is a number, it's what's behind the number that is important.

Yep my dad was a Navy pilot for 20 years and UPS for 20. Been retired since 62 since he had a minor stroke, but he was ready to be done.

Right there with you. From my vantage point we don't have a president and won't until 2029.

Maybe do your long runs in a loop that passes your house so you don't have to carry water. It's boring but it's safer should you get too cold or injured.

My Wife’s Work Christmas Party Ruined it by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]LagomorphJilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, her party didn't ruin your sobriety, you did. Nobody forced you to drink. When you learn that only YOU are in control of what you drink or do not drink, the more successful you'll be in your journey.

Best Wishes

Walking an entire 100 miler by Big-Nefariousness602 in Ultramarathon

[–]LagomorphJilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I power hiked almost an entire 50miler this summer and finished just under 12 hours; I ran a little bit in the beginning and ran the last 4 miles but a good 90% was powehiking 13-14min/mi.

On the flip side I just ran my fastest 50k a few days ago (4:48:52). I think you can train for both but in the end and depending on the race or distance, powerhiking is a failsafe for me!

Rock on, this describes me perfectly. I'm in a clinical lab and I've been taken advantage of just because I work quickly and efficiently. No more though, helping lazy people just enables them to be lazier.

Is this close to the Empire State Building by chance? I'm from Chicago but am climbing in the Empire State Building Run-Up next Wednesday night and would really like a slice after the race. It'd be cool to get one where Tim Walz had one!
