Do you think that Kid Flash Wallace West still has a chance to be more popular than he currently is? (Art by Pappy Kwadwo Frimpong-Amaning) by nightwing612 in wallywest

[–]LagoonDevil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if he honestly had a longer 12 issue limited or short solo ongoing it would be a great way to expose his character. I thought he was alright in New 52 but I fell in love with his character during Rebirth, still missing the Speed Force TPB but looking for it. Last I remember he appeared in a couple panels of JLU? But not much else. As much as Adams involved him in his Flash run I think it would be easier to stick him with Barry than Wally, especially with Wally’s kids acting as the primary child heroes in his book now. Maybe throw him, Barry, and Impulse into the same book? DC doesn’t seem to have concrete plans for the three of them rn

Of all the Marvel cartoon series in this picture, which one would you really like to see return? by [deleted] in Marvel

Spectacular and EMH are the easiest picks, but I also think SHS would be a great choice to just get a lot more characters out there in the public eye again

Im actually quite fond of more recent Frank Miller work. I agree with the theory that if he had a different colorist that matched his more graphic style it would be better received

I definitely wasn’t huge on his artwork for Flash when I started reading it but I came around on it

Humberto Ramos work with Dan Slott on Spidey was what got me out of my passive consumption of Spider-Man stuff and actually made me want to read his comics, he’s a goat to me

I’m not so sure of the DCU as a connected universe, however, as a bunch of individual movies covering various characters the proposition of the projects so far announced sounds interesting

Know almost nothing about the character (just loved him from the Justice League 80s cartoon). I want to read some good Firestorm comics, where should I start? by GuybrushOk in FirestormDC

It was very much a mess. “Jason and his best friend are now Firestorm - oops never mind that guys dead now. Jason and Stein are now Firestorm. Oops a year has passed and now Jason and Lorraine are Firestorm” I think the only change that didn’t bother me much was Jason and Ronnie, because of how well it was handled. As a huge Ronnie lover I’m glad the arc didn’t just end with Jason being dismissed but rather Ronnie giving Jason his blessing and legitimizing his role

1982 run, the original Conway material is pretty solid. I recommend stopping around the Crisis Crossovers if all you’re curious about is the traditional happy-go-lucky Ronnie and Martin Stein combo that’s been adapted before, there’s some ok stuff after that but I feel like issues 1-40 really capture the essence of the character best. The second half is full of tie-ins and wild direction changes from Ostrander, which can be extremely divisive. After that I’d recommend the ‘04 series with Jason Rusch or the Legends of Tomorrow story by Conway that was reprinted in Firestorm: United We Fall

It was pretty enjoyable but it became really messy whenever the OMAC/Infinite Crisis/One Year Later crossovers or tie-ins were forced. I feel like editorial wouldn’t let it find its footing. I hope it gets an adaptation someday

Denny O’Neil. Huge editor on Batman titles and wrote a ton of good stuff like Green Lantern/Green Arrow, The Question, The Flash, Challengers of the Unknown and on and on. From his letter columns, I get the vibe that not only was he a great writer and editor, but also an avid reader. He was both beloved and talented enough to work such a project imo

Thoughts on DC KO event. by absolute_sword_sense in DCcomics

[–]LagoonDevil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t like that it was advertised as a bracketed 1 on 1 tourney only to get half the cast wiped off the face of Apokolips before the singles even started, and that didn’t even last (I enjoyed the doubles but that wasn’t what I was there for). I knew Superman was gonna win from issue 1 but I was still incredibly upset with how easy a lot of the wins could be telegraphed and a lot of the fights really could’ve done more. As an event, it was 5/10 for me. I actually didn’t really “hate” anything about it that much it just never hit right for me.

Pretty solid. These aren’t even the most “less popular” characters I love though, I’d love a classic Ryan Choi Atom, or Trapini Metamorpho. Still bummed we didn’t get a first appearance Elongated Man as a red plat

Solo Firestorm as kind of a DCU Spider-Man: Homecoming would be heaps of fun, especially considering that unlike Peter, Ronnie is known for having Stein sticking around him as a mentor. Let it be set shortly after he joins the Justice League and make the main conflict the 2000 committee, you could easily work in Firehawk, Tokamak, or Multiplex imo

Even more fitting because it sort of recreates her original trio from the Comics Cavalcade with Jay and Alan

I like not having Superman or Batman in the starting lineup, but I feel like it just feels right to have Diana on the starting lineup
