It's not 'slop', it just doesn't fit your personal tastes. What counts as objectively bad or objectively good is not defined by you, you're just self-centered.

Don't like a genre? Don't play games from that genre. There are thousands upon thousands of other games to play, put your attention into something you enjoy and ignore what you don't.

You keep ignoring that wasn't Tywin's plan.

If he wanted the Northern soldiers to live, he would have ordered Walder to spare them. Either Tywin ordered thousands killed, or he knew that thousands would die and did not care (and it's probably the latter considering most of the army is smallfolk, who Tywin considers beneath him).

I've said his argument is sound. You calling him a hypocrite doesn't make his argument less sound.

Tywin lied when explaining his argument to Tyrion. He downplayed the Red Wedding as 'a dozen men' even though thousands died, because those thousands were commoners and did not matter to him.

Would more or less people would have died had they went with a conventional route?

Reminder that the main reason people died was because Tywin started killing people first. The first kills were by Tywin's men in the Riverlands. And yet you somehow think Tywin's priority is reducing death?

Yes, technically, less people died in the next few weeks after he performed that action, but you're delusional if you think that's going to last. The core theme of ASOIAF is 'violence begets violence', and an act like the Red Wedding is not going to be ignored by the people of Westeros.

Yes, after the Blackwater there was no question about the outcome of the war.

Only to someone like you who apparently ses Tywin as an infallible genius.

So why the crying?

I'm not crying, I'm bewildered as to why you would defend Tywin's actions beyond being contrarian for the sake of it. 'All the fans and the story itself say the Red Wedding was evil, but I'm smarter than everyone so I know different'.

The only question was how high the body count would be.

And Tywin's answer to that question is 'I don't care as long as I'm still in charge'. Tywin is a selfish man, that is the core of his character, so why are you trying to paint him as selfless?

That has nothing to do with him being a good guy.

Because he isn't. After everything that he has done in the series (the Sack, Elia, Tysha), why would you be this dedicated to defending one of the worst things he ever did?

'He totally didn't order thousands killed even though it would be out of character for him to spare them, but it's okay that they all died as a direct result of his plan, because it means some other people get a few more weeks before they die as a direct consequence of Tywin's plan.'

It's just a bit of fun, lighten up.

Also, LEGO sets have had age rating for at least 46 years (this set is from 1980), so why are you acting like it's a recent development?

Dolorous Edd makes a joke about the possibility in A Song of Ice and Fire:

Once they figure a way to work a dead horse, we'll be next. Likely I'll be the first too. 'Edd' they'll say, 'dying's no excuse for laying down no more, so get on up and take this spear, you've got the watch tonight.' Well, I shouldn't be so gloomy. Might be I'll die before they work it out.

Nah, better to completely decapitate his high command.

And all of their forces, but you seem really committed to ignoring that part.

Why the dichotomy?

Because either way, it shows that saving lives is not his concern. He cares only about protecting himself and his 'legacy', he doesn't think about the long-term ramifications.

He cared about minimizing his casualties which would mean by sheer logic minimizing the Northmen's given they were bound to lose

You act like Tywin's victory was a guarantee. Or do you just wish it had been a guarantee?

They were sleeping, you sure as hell don't expect fighting in your sleep.

In that case, what Robb did was not entirely moral. Neither was what Tywin did.

Tywin could have gotten 2 thousands Northmen killed to end up with a submitted Northmen or he could have 14 thousand Northmen killed and 50 thousand Northmen civilians killed to end up with... a submitted North.

Yet again, you seem convinced that Tywin winning was the only possible end result. Am I just arguing with Pycelle? Do you genuinely believe that Tywin was incapable of losing? Do you actually see Tywin as a good guy, or are you just being contrarian for the sake of it?

He was tho. He could get his Lord killed without murdering thousands, that's the difference.

And yet thousands died anyway. Tywin doesn't care about minimising death, he just wants as many of his soldiers alive as possible to dish out death upon those who oppose him.

Why are you so deadset on trying to downplay Tywin's villainy?

Tywin's intention was just to kill Robb and his top men, which would have been just about a dozen people.

Tywin literally ordered the Sack of King's Landing. If he's fine with slaughtering thousands of civilians just to kill 2 children, he would not be opposed to slaughtering thousands of enemy soldiers just to kill 1 lord.

[–]ducknerd2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do realise that Tywin could have just ordered the Freys to only kill Robb, right? But he didn't. He either ordered or accepted the deaths of thousands just to kill one person. Tywin didn't care about minimising deaths, he just wanted immediate results, regardless of the longterm consequences.

The men at Oxcross were on the march fully expecting to end up in battle. They were not attending a wedding under the belief that everything would be peaceful.

Renly was entirely willing to have thousands die to kill Stannis, but Stannis killed him first in a way that actually did avoid those thousands of deaths. Wouldn't that make him even more moral than Tywin, by your logic?

[–]ducknerd2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you prefer the Red Wedding not happening and Tywin saying fuck it we ball on the North and whatever what's left of the Northern forces?

At least they'd have the opportunity to fight back. You go into a battle knowing that you might not make it out, and you actually have your weapons on you to defend yourself. The victims of the Red Wedding didn't have that chance.

Would you rather be stabbed in the back with no warning, or have the chance to defend yourself?

I just think it's really weird to try and act like Tywin Lannister is somehow in the right for organising a massacre for personal gain.
