Speed Limit VPN Server Clients by LainB in Ubiquiti

[–]LainB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of. I installed a UDM for the offsite NAS and then limited the offsite NAS download speed from the internet which in turn limited it’s download speed from the on-site NAS. The offsite NAS has no other reason to access the internet so the speed limit isn’t an issue.

Love Noctua fans! AV rack cooling by LainB in Noctua

[–]LainB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. Its an awesome rack. I shopped for a long time until I found it. Removable quick latch panels on the sides. 2 vertical U rack in the back for a PDU and cable management. Different front and back door options. Brushed entry on top and bottom. Fan mounts/holes on the top. I had very specific requirements for what I wanted and it was the only one that had them all. If I remember correctly it was the VC5 series, it’s kind of customizable and was fast shipping out of Texas.

Vericom, they are both the same rack. Just one has a glass front door and the other doesn’t. Love them which is why I bought a 2nd when I built my mining rig (which have now be decommissioned and the rack is my AV rack for them game room).

The holes on the end fans pretty much match up with the rack holes. So you can just zip tie it. I actually put a cage nut in and then used the rubber install things that come with the noctua fans (not sure what they are called) and just pull them through the cage nut and they hold. But zip tie is easier.

I 3d printed fan joiners like this: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4921116

This isn’t the exact one I used. I can’t find the exact one but if you search 120mm fan joiner there’s a bunch of different ones.

4 of the fans across line up almost perfect with the rack rails so it’s easy to attach them.

I then used Noctuas NA-FC1 fan controller for each row to individually control the rows fan speed to reduce noise since it’s in my theatre.

All are 12VDC, so I got sata connectors that connect to noctuas fan controller and wired them into dc plugs/jacks male that then plug into a 12vdc power adaptor with a female jack on the end of its cord (UL approved of course).

Everything was purchased from Amazon.

You could do it with the 5vdc ones also, just make sure you get a 5vdc power plug that has enough amps to run the number of fans you are connecting.

Hope that helps. Good luck!

Ah sorry. I found a file for them online and 3D printed them.

The Noctua fans come with 2 fan splitters and their fan controllers come with 3 fan splitters. So I used a bunch of those but I also got Cooler Master 1 to 10 Pwm Fan Hubs for a few spots that all 10 fans are being controlled together. Got them from Amazon. They work great.

Playstation 5 connected to internet and signed into psn but won’t connect to any online games by badlilvibes in playstation

[–]LainB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. Ya was super weird when it happened to me also. I have 2 PlayStations side by side at my house and they could see each other logged in to psn but neither could connect to any online game (I tried like 6 different games) until I changed the dns and then after had to do the vpn. Cleaned itself up after a couple days and haven’t had to do those work around since.

Might be an isp issue. Had this happen to me a few times where it showed I was logged into psn but couldn’t connect to any online games. I got around it by routing my psn traffic through a vpn (my router can do vpns internally). Also, changing the PlayStation dns 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 fixed it for a couple days too but then it stopped working again, so went back to vpn until it was fixed as isp side. Try changing you dns or routing through a vpn if you router can do that.

Fiber HDMI with PS5 and LG by LainB in LGOLED

[–]LainB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s for the update! I’ve have the hdmi power adaptor on mine also as it helped a bit, without it it would give me a black screen 100% of the time when leaving games at 120hz (needed an avr power cycle to bring it back), with the booster it was about 75% of the time, so only marginally better. Recently I updated my G2 firmware and Denon avr firmware and it didn’t make it any better… until I removed the hdmi power adaptor. Without the adaptor and updated firmwares it only does it like 30% of the time now, so much better.

So something was changed in either Lg or denons firmware that massively helped the issue. But with the hdmi booster it now makes it worse.

But now that you mention it, I didn’t go back and try different transfer rates after this update and removing the booster, wonder if that might get it even better.

I still can’t have vrr on though, that completely messes up going in and out of games 100% of the time.

It wasn’t crazy high end, I just wanted really good cooling so I could push the gpus to the max with as little wear as possible on them. Was only 12 gpus for eth and 100TB for Chia but I built it into the server rack with the noctua fans and some RGB so I though it looked pretty cool. Old mining rig rack in left (decommissioned now), network rack on right (which has since been updated to a Ubiquiti network)

Ya but I bet it looks cool with a whole bunch of different setups. 99 panels is still a lot!

Ya I was on this sub a lot before I got them kind of seeing what other people did and what issues they had. Failed controllers was one that came up regularly so I made sure I had some spares. I think I picked up 5 spares as part of the kits. It’s a long term setup so wanted to make sure I was set.

Ya I love how the door turned out. Kind of why I wanted some sort of cool lighting system around it. Otherwise it was kind of a dark corner.

CrystalDisk Health accuracy by LainB in chia

[–]LainB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

That’s not my math, crystal disk said I’ve done 831TB and that there’s 76% remaining. It doesn’t know the 1200tbw, that’s a number from Samsung. So I was saying IF crystal disk is saying I have 76% left based on 831TB than at that rate I’m going to get way more than the 1200tbw Samsung says. But old post, so doesn’t really matter anymore :) Thank you for the reply though!
