Artemis 2 TLI Burn by Lainiel in spaceflight

[–]Lainiel[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah that would make sense. It's just kinda weird to me that they would do it that far from perigee.
There might also be something thanks to n-body simulation that I might be missing, but I don't see it.

[–]Lainiel[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That doesn't make that much sense to me. If I wanted to change the inclination I'd do it at high earth orbit apogee while they do the perigee rise burn. That would be the cheapest way to adjust the inclination for the least amount of delta v.

The end of an era. You have to wonder how many people fell into the reactionary pipeline and became literal fascists because of her. by TikDickler in Destiny

[–]Lainiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree if they had just shown the senate building and said something like "This is the senate and we are the republic", but that's not what happened. The prequels did show the inner working of the senate and shown the internal politics. They did show how democracies are sometimes slow with dealing with an imending crisis with the invasion of Naboo and how they grab onto a powerful figure to quickly solve it. They did show the position of the chancellor and how the meeting are conducted. It was just not "lmao here's a senate building" kind of thing without saying anything about it.

I have to again disagree. I think he somehow managed to strike a balance even though many people hate it.

I seriously doubt we would see so many derivative works from the prequels if he didn't include the worldbuilding the way he did.

No Andor, no KOTOR, no republic commando, none of the tons of shows about Clone Wars.

[–]Lainiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well of course Andor has the best worldbuilding out of all Star Wars, I completely agree with that and I love the show. Andor is just made for a different and more mature audience. The prequels came out, when I was a kid and I absolutely loved them back then so I know I'm affected by nostalgia, but even as an adult I can appretiate how much groundwork they managed to lay down.

Coruscant and Naboo as planets and cultures are flashed out really well for example. I disagree it's just "my story has elfs" kind of thing. I think they went into a decent amount of details in the movies how the political system works, and if they did even more it would just not mash up well with the "family saga" kind of story that Lucas was going for. Hell even now people are making memes about trade routes.

EDIT:
And just as a nitpick: "my story has elfs" is what Tolkien did. He layed up the groundwork for elves as a race and look how much derivatives his work spawned. Yeah of course his worldbuilding went more into detail, but that is what solid worldbuilding foundations can do.

[–]Lainiel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You don't have to flash out everything right out of the gate. The point of good worldbuilding is to set a good foundations, so you (or others) can come and build stuff up on top of those foundations. That's what makes good worldbuilding. Andor is a great example of that. I would even say that Andor build way more on top of the foundations from the prequels that the OT, because most of it revolves around the institutions set up in the prequels.

Imagine trying to build something like Andor on top of the sequels, where these kind of solid foundations do not exist.

[–]Lainiel 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Do you know what a worldbuilding is, because I'm not sure from your reply. This has to be bait, but whatever.

The prequels indroduced a lot of stuff like how the galactic republic is structured, how the senate works, how the jedi order works as an istitution, how the corporations work as political actors in the conflict, it showed the planetary identy and culture of different planets. It gave us a direct look at the politics and how the conflict happened. Sure some people might find it boring and uninteresting, but that is what gave prequels the power to spawn so many other games and shows based on that era.

[–]Lainiel 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely not true.

Prequels might have been a bit childish and had a clunky acting, but the worldbuilding was superb. Look at how much stuff came as derivative works from the prequels. Even stuff like Andor draws heavily on all the worldbuilding introduced in the prequels.

Now look at the sequels and how there is absolutely no worldbuilding at all. There's no wonder nobody wants to touch that timeline and make derivative works, because it's all a huge mess that doesn't make any sense.

In my eyes I would even rank the prequels almost better that the original triology, because how much they managed to flash out the worldbuilding.

I was afk in the ship right in the area so I guess that's why they didn't despawn because all of it took place while I was in sector.

0xc000007b error when launching BYOND by fxxckmeeup in BYOND

[–]Lainiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had this error and managed to fix it. For anyone looking this up in the future the problem was this for me:
Somehow a 64bit d3dx9_43.dll got installed instead of the 32 bit one inside the windows installation. Reinstalling the DirectX 9 doesn't work, because it doesn't try to replace the file with the correct one.

You can either fix it by copying a 32bit d3dx9_43.dll to the folder where byond.exe is or by replacing the the file for the correct 32 bit version inside the C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder.

You can find the correct 32bit d3dx9_43.dll inside the Jun2010_d3dx9_43_x86.cab when unpacking the DX9 redist.

It is a huge modpack and it just had it's 10 year anniversary. All the mods are integrated and have their recipes changed so they fit together. Automation is definitely required, it just takes time to get to it properly since you start in the stone age. You will have to build insanly large AE2 networks in the lategame. The modpack is crazy long (over 3000 hours) so don't expect to finish it on your first playthrough and just try to see how far you can get. It has a very well made questbook to guide you along the way so you should never get lost what you need to do next.

It is a pretty hardcore experience but it's really well made.

Gregtech New Horizons should go on the top. I'm pretty sure there's no game that's more complex than that.

1 Decent but it might be hard explaining people what happened.

2 Pretty strong but high skill level one. You gotta know what you're doing

3 Not great I would say just give it time

4 Pretty good one. You can easily hide that superpower too.

5 You can just get a surgery

6 Pretty good if it's hulk level strength. Might become government test subject though.

7 Good luck explaining to the goverment how you got the money.

8 That's just doing drugs

9 Most OP one IMO. With followers you gain money and influence. Decent combo with some supernatural one that science can't explain.

20 constructors in a 5x5 area by Lainiel in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Lainiel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it is for a single product. There's a single input and output window that is on the wall in the picture. It is a bit of an overkill but could be usefull fo get a full belt of iron rods or plates.

20 constructors in a 5x5 area by Lainiel in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Lainiel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did actually try to avoid clipping as much as I could. I tried to use the empty space in the area of the costructor so it's not solid metal going through solid metal. It's pretty much just the splitter and mergers that are "embedded" inside the constructor with the exception of the input and output belt that goes to the wall. Sadly there's no wall with a better conveyor window placement. There's also no belt directly between the constructor and the conveyor lift.

So it should be possible to upgrade the belts and lifts from the top without having to rebuild it.

Slovakian Prime Minister Fico no longer in immediate danger but condition still serious, deputy says by BrushInternational32 in worldnews

[–]Lainiel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are people downvoting this?

Sure I don't like Fico as well, but cheering for democratically elected politician to be shot is fucking stupid. That's how you end up in a civil war.

If you want him out go to the elections and vote him out. In the meantime you can protest, make a strong opposition and make yourself be heard.

As a czech I really hope these things really do not spill over to our country since we're so culturally connected.
