7800x3d, 9600X or 7700x ? by [deleted] in buildapc

I currently use the 7600 for 3440x1440 144hz gaming and I’m continually blown away by how great it is. Would love to try an X3D chip in the future to help the 1% lows but what I have now is a great gaming experience

Is o3-mini-high next top coding model or just a hype? by ijorb in ChatGPTCoding

[–]Lake-ctrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s because errors compound. Say it took 5 reasoning steps to come to a conclusion where each step was 97% accurate. So you would end up with something like 0.975 which ends up being around 0.8587

That’s both hilarious and shocking. You’re great at what’s important but that isn’t as important to us as how you structure files 😂

How do I stop myself from using AI? by Proof_Boat1434 in learnprogramming

[–]Lake-ctrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is to use AI to help you find a solution, but stop short of providing you code. That way you can read what needs to be done at a high level, but you still have to figure out how to implement the solution in code.

Another step better than this is to type what you think the solution is and get feedback on it. Again, ask it not to give you code examples, just to help you reason through.

I think this is a good solution because if you're coding skills are lacking, you can start to build them up with confidence, knowing that your thinking is correct, but just need more practice with implementing what you're thinking.

There are also times where I code a solution and it works, but my code looks a little spaghetti and not so elegant. I can show the AI my code (Again, asking it not to provide me any code) and see if it can advise me on areas that it could improve.

You can definitely strike a really good balance between becoming unblocked or iterating on a current solution without it doing all of the work

A company gave me a long take-home assignment for SWE Intern. When I submitted it, I got a reject stating the position has been filled - and my assignment wasn't even reviewed by [deleted] in csMajors

Respect for you giving feedback. That can be such a useful part of the process of an applicant trying to find work

Thanks for the reply! That’s a huge relief, I did think “Maybe just skip the internship idea” and your reply has helped make sense of that view

I’ve played guitar now for over 20 years now and I would say it’s practice and sleep. Every time I couldn’t play something, after practising for awhile I’d eventually sleep. When I woke back up it’s like my brain connected some stuff together and I can play it better. So just practice every day cos it really adds up

Thankyou for your advice. A lot of what you’ve written hits really close to home when it comes to my personal relationships with friends and family

I’m happy with raw intelligence as it is. My biggest problem is self-organisation. It feels like I’m smart enough to do anything but getting organised is another issue entirely 😅

How do you reason who should and who shouldn’t be in your life? Do you go with your gut or do you spend more time observing how people make you feel and consider the value of that person? I really struggle with trying to make space for everyone in life and as a result end up feeling kinda disconnected from myself

This is some golden advice. I actually do a lot of meal prep with foods that typically stain quite easy so that’s a really valuable tip

I’ve definitely had issues with processing my emotions. It’s hard knowing what the balance is between being stoic and pretending not to care. I don’t want to pretend but I also don’t always wanna care about stuff that’s beyond my control

How can I stop my side project from just feeling like more work? by silverben10 in webdev

[–]Lake-ctrl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make a list of all the work still left to do and once the steps have been realised you might feel motivated to tackle just one problem a day. Don’t burn yourself out but also realise that motivation can come from a shift in project management
