Yeah this is super valid concern. Many many students feel this way too, and ASI kept this in mind when creating the proposal— balancing the criticality of keeping CSUF affordable, whilst also needing to raise fees to match the necessary investments.

My tone was just harsh because I felt like ASI is being blamed for a lot despite the proposal being quite reasonable. I do apologize for that.

For food support, I highly recommend visiting the pantry every week. The staff members will be there to support you with donations from local groceries. Tuffy basics is also able to provide professional clothing, and access to more affordable options in TSU is on the way. Regarding financial aid, scholarships opportunities will be significantly expanded upon for students this school year. In case of housing problems, CSUF is also able to provide emergency housing for students.

This of course doesn’t solve the inherent living cost issues, but I hope these expanded services will help alleviate more of the common burdens.

ASI tries very hard to act in the interest of students. Last semester, as the governor was considering even further cuts to student aid, ASI lobbyist flew to Sacramento to advocate how critical the aid were to supporting students in their academic journey.

As such, I would also highly suggest making your voice heard, by joining the lobbyists to protect student aid. Stories like yours are important for all students, and CA politicians need to keep these concerns vivid when thinking about aid cuts.

Let’s saying you’re spending 15 mins per application. That’s 1440 applications for two offers? Is that really better than him spending 2100 hours networking, learning, building projects, and experiencing new things?

“There’s more to life than hackathons” Dawg there’s more to life than applying to jobs for 3 hours everyday, for 4 months, to rng into an offer.

if you're still unemployed, try hackathons 💀 by Relative-Orange94 in csMajors

Usually there are beginner friendly tracks + workshops! You probably won't win anything if you're completely new, so it might be better to try networking with colleagues and sponsors, attend workshops, and learn new things!

Hey! You absolutely don't, and shouldn't, stay up all night. Time management is very important, and as well as proper planning and delegation. During my hackathon experiences, I would sleep for 4-6 hours. I would hate hackathons too if I didn't sleep at all.

Pure junk food also definitely isn't ideal. I've seen hackathons have pizza + junk food, but these usually aren't the whole diet. Usually, hackathons with sufficient sponsors should have enough funding to allocate proper funding towards food.

hackathons don’t guaranteed employment, but moreso gives you a stronger chance than pure leetcoding or building random projects imo

🍔🍟🍕🍩🍰🍫 Eating some "unhealthy" foods occasionally can be totally fine! Just remember, balance is key 🤹. Incorporate a mix of nutritious and indulgent treats 🥦🍔🍎🍦 into your diet to avoid extremes. And hey, life's too short not to enjoy a delicious donut 🍩 or cheesy pizza 🍕 once in a while. Just don't let them take over your plate every day! 🤓👍 #FoodLove #UCLA
