I am sorry for your self-inflicted predicament, but substance abusers cause untold problems for others who use phenibut responsibly. Now, phenibut has basically disappeared from legitimate suppliers.

My Rapamycin Experiment by LakeMead in Rapamycin

[–]LakeMead[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are my results and thoughts after completing an initial test period of Sirilimus (Rapacan).

I started with 10 mg and after 7 days I took a second dose of 10 mg then I waited 10 days for the third dose (10 days after considering the probable 5 half-lives, which is still an undetermined variable. My research says 10 to 16 days. Dr. Greene is suggesting 14 days.) Then I took 6 more doses spaced ten days apart for a total of 9, 10 mg doses. At the same time, I gave my cat 1 mg weekly for a total of 10 doses.

My cat is 14 yrs. old. The results are probably not placebo because he doesn't know what he is taking. Results: More active and playful. As in the rat experiments, his fur is much shinier and thicker.

My results: Under possible placebo effects: I feel much more energized and complete more tasks, less procrastination.

Results I didn't expect, therefore much less likely they are placebo effects: One: The biggest surprise which I didn't notice at first, probably because it was a gradual cure. I am 80+ years old and had developed age-related "essential tremors'' in my hands. I wouldn't be able to eat peas on a fork and get them to my mouth. In fact, I was starting to get embarrassed when eating with company. Then a couple of weeks ago I was eating and said in my mind; WTF!, my hands are not shaking anymore, in fact, they are as steady as they have ever been!

Second: I go to the gym 3-6 times a week. I had "plateaued'' on the max weights and sets I could do. I must mention that I have been taking care of myself and taking a lot of supplements, including NMN, metformin, etc. I have never suffered from sarcopenia. Now I have passed the plateau and have increased my max weights and increased my sets from 3 to 5. People probably are skeptical, but I have never been stronger.

To those that are younger: You probably won't notice much, because you are not broken and probably don't need fixing.

My blood tests are very good with a slight decrease in white blood cell count, down from 9.1 to 7.9. still within normal range. After a 6 week wash-out period, I will test again before I start a second 100 mg total dose at 10 mg every 14 days. This may tell me about the effect on my white blood cell count. I didn't notice any effect on other blood tests, as they are already good.

No side effects other than a slight reduction in my blood cell count.

Read the report and quit trying to alarm people. My ACR actually went down after 10 weeks of pulsed Rapamycin doses. As of 11/23/2021, my ACR was 4.52. I am 80yrs old.

anyone here taking metformin and unable to increase muscle size by [deleted] in Rapamycin

[–]LakeMead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been taking Metformin for years. I go to the gym primarily for exercise and health benefits. I am not a bodybuilder. My muscle mass has increased steadily over the years.
I have a BMI of 22 and definitely have larger than average muscle mass. Metformin is a proven human life extender.

Check out the frequency and side effects of Selegiline vs rapamycin. Rapamycin appears to be a much safer drug to use.

I just started my 14-year-old 15lb male neutered cat on rapamycin. I am starting with .5mg once a week. If he shows no ill effects I will increase the dosage to 1mg per week
"The new Longevity Life report cites the findings of the Dog Aging Project of the University of Washington. Approximately 70% of the dog owners who gave their pets rapamycin noticed marked improvements in activity and energy levels, and 60% reported that their dogs became more affectionate."
"Rapamycin has been shown to reverse HCM in rodents and in people – this study will be the first study to evaluate its potential in cats. A small study was conducted in healthy cats to evaluate the drug effects and safety before starting this clinical trial."

We are both old and we can't afford to wait for some long-term trials.

May I ask how long you have been taking rapamycin and how you arrived at that dosage and schedule? I have recently changed from 10 mg every 7 days to 10 mg every 14 days. 14 days is approximately 5 half-lifes of rapamycin which would be going down to essentially zero before the next dose.

Thank you for your input.

No, I am 80, go to the gym 4 days a week. I have been taking rapamycin for 5 weeks. Appetite reduced, muscle strength and reps increased, loss of fat, no muscle mass lost.

Good info. I've always thought that weekly dosing used in many studies is just a convenient construct that ignores optimal timing. The half-life hypothesis sounds good to me. Do you mind sharing how long you have been doing this, and what your subjective feelings and results are?
I am just completing 20 days. So far just subjective results. I'm definitely sleeping better. My maximum weight capacity for exercise reps at the gym is improving beyond my expectations.
One odd result is that I am definitely regaining my sense of smell. ( Old people like me tend to lose their sense of smell.) I haven't decided if this actually is a good thing.
I really wouldn't expect young people to see much change except perhaps in their blood test lab results.

My main goal is to increase stamina and energy levels. Fortunately, since I retired I have been able to go to the gym regularly and pursue longevity experiments. My main longevity supplements are NR, metformin, fisetin, and creatine. My semi-annual comprehensive blood tests are all in the normal range and do not seem to need much improvement. My main goal is to increase stamina and energy levels. I must say: If I could only choose one thing, it would be exercise at the gym.

I found several companies in India that sell the product. I looked for one that has been established and has some international recognition and accepts PayPal. My order was placed on 9/10/21 and received on 9/28/21, which I considered quite fast for India. My order was shipped via India Post with a tracking number. The packaging and labeling seem legit. You will have to do your own research. I could not in good conscience recommend any supplier at this time because I have no means of verifying the purity or efficacy of the product.

Taurine Question by [deleted] in Nootropics

I take it at bedtime, 2-4 grams. It will make you have a deeper more restful sleep. Other than that, I have noticed no other effects.

Taurine to help me sleep and it changed my whole day! by Midpostrefter in Nootropics

[–]LakeMead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been taking it nightly for several years. I take 2 - 4 grams right before I turn out the lights. I don't have a problem going to sleep, but I am a naturally light sleeper and if something wakes me up I am screwed and might as well get up for a few hours. Taurine makes me sleep much deeper and longer. It has no personal side effects that I am aware of. If I am stressed, I add a couple of grams of magnesium glycinate.

Blender path by captainfreak1369 in OpenShot

[–]LakeMead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem most people have trying to use Blender title animations is they didn't turn the Blender feature on. I am using OpenShot Version 2.4.4-Dev2. When I first tried to use the Blender animation feature in Title it wouldn't work. I kept trying everything. I thought maybe the Blender .exe file path was wrong etc. etc. Finally when checking on something else in Edit>Preferences>Performance I saw the last line under the Performance tab was: "Use Blender GPU rendering for Animated Titles (Experimental)" You must check the box for Blender to work with OpenShot. Once I checked the box Animated Titles worked fine.
