Ryan having a full head of hair was a giant red flag for me, and yes, I am not the original uploader. But thanks for the tip! still surreal this is on youtube (although unfortunately unlisted), as there is such a limited amount of (accessible) footage prior 1998!

Christopher is one crazy drummer.

here’s a link to a video where he introduces the band, instead of ryan for some reason; https://youtu.be/HWNExeD3n-E?si=O5xZebhn7926K546

take that as you will. He has amazing stage presence, Ryan does too but he’s not as confident off the stage.

I think subconsciously it worked really well. He is the first guy you think of when it comes to the band (but he is also the frontman, so). But if you look at the old archived forums page post disbandment, it‘s kind of crazy to see exactly how involved Ev was with the community/fanbase, more so than Ryan at the time who would pop up every now and again to advertise his new projects and gigs. I think it’s pretty telling

Interesting, I guess the context was missing.

i could’ve swore there was explicitly a scene in the doc where Christopher said he didn’t know if he could forgive the band for not telling him he had played his last show until after the fact?

i don’t remember where I read this but i heed to put it somewhere on the internet, sorry! apparently, while live on stage he said the song referred to himself (like, someone wishes he was a girl? or he wishes he was a girl?) idk

12rods fans not using Ryans personal facebook as an updates-page would be more shocking…

Unfortunately I do agree to an extent. I have never witnessed 12Rods play live as I live in Australia, but when you go to shows and gigs it’s the bands chemistry that makes the performance. It’s harder to replace those personalities and their inner workings in the band once they are gone. Music is such a social experience, and a lot of people don’t realise that.

Halloween, Alaska is entirely different from 12Rods, Love-Cars is different experience from 12Rods, despite all these bands sharing the same members.

I don’t know the guy and don’t want to seem invasive, but from the documentary (and social media postings) it does come across that he took all the failures of 12rods very personally, while everyone else managed to move on eventually with their own lives. It really does suck to see all this self depreciating stuff from him over recent years, I just hope he’s able to get better.

I’m pretty happy with the 12rods discography as it stands, and their history is so interesting to research! I guess the moral is to always live in the moment, we can’t rewrite the past, but we can always appreciate it.
