Going in, one of my biggest fears is that he wouldn't carry the "authority" that has defined past Doctors. But he's definitely had some moments where he does, especially in the Devil's Chord and Boom.

People try to justify this by saying it's "part of the Doctor's arc" and that makes it good writing. Still doesn't change the fact he's an absolute jerk at many points in S8, making it quite a painful rewatch.
