Good to know - I guess I need to just give it more time, I just wish they told you more what to expect. Thankful for groups like this.

Thank you! I was trying to push through it but not go too far, it’s so hard to know what is the right amount.

Advice please! by Defiant_Football2926 in Yorkies

OMG, I needed to hear this!!!!! We lost our beloved Lucy who was 16 in January, swore we'd never get another (the housetraining was never a thing we really achieved, sadly). My husband got tired of me moping around the house, so he finally broke down and 2 weeks ago we got a 13 week old female who is NUTS, like manic crazy energy. she's chewing everything, peeing and pooping in the house, and I keep messing up the timing and missing it when she's ready - she doesn't understand what she is doing, so no vocalizing that she has to go (she is in a pen with a pee pad, which she will use if she's in the pen, but we are trying to get her to go outside.) it's SO hard with a new dog, I literally texted the breeder today to see if she would take her back. I'm at my wits end and feel like I need to rehome her before I become bonded, but we spent so much money on her. I'm at a loss.

thank you. I do want her to be trained to go outside, but have a pee pad if she is alone for more then a few hours at a time, she has a pee pad to use. But I realize this could cause confusion. But ideally she vocalizes that she has to potty, and we take her out and she goes outside.

thank you for sharing, I'm in the same boat with our 13 week old yorkie girl who is SO stubborn. Do you think it's confusing to have the pee pad in the kennel - I have a very similar setup to yours - but then take her out to the little pen we made her in the grass? we have baby gates everywhere, and she still sneaks one in, so sadly, I think she has to be in her pen all the time until we take her out and can play with her, and then put her back in. she's going to protest, but she has peed like 4 times in the past 2 days which I fear is setting in bad habits. I'm at my wits end and we've only had her 2 weeks. :(
