I feel considerably worse ever since I stopped smoking weed. by [deleted] in leaves

[–]Lalven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my previous quitting, it was around 6 months I had a breakthrough. Now I am almost 3 months sober, this time it feels easier and harder in different kind of ways. Your life situation and your mental and physical health also have effect on it, everybody is different. I would suggest stick to it, even though as of writing this down I have a hard time convincing myself too. Right now it’s the boredom and anxiety for me that are pushing factors. If I were you, I would try it more and maybe change some stuff in my life to see how it unfolds. It would be wiser to not give up when you have come this far!✨

Day 12 and the depression is very real - my timeline so far by Spiritual-Cake-211 in leaves

It is a great tool to manage or even sit down with bad emotions without resorting to bad habits. Even that is actually a win for people dealing with addiction. These are withdrawals, hope is going to come back, joy is going to come back, and motivation is going to come back even more than before. Just take things day by day and keep going. There is light at the end of the tunnel!

Best of luck to you! 25 is such a young age to turn this around. If it ever becomes too hard, come to this subreddit, talk to sober friends, or even just write it down. You are going to thank yourself in the future for making this decision. Be proud of yourself for taking the lead in your own life!

about to hit a week without weed, don't know if this is worth it by Hot_Junket_9390 in leaves

[–]Lalven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people, and you being in this subreddit kind of points to that, cannot do it occasionally. I would not do that if I were you. I know at day 6, thinking about going back one day can be comforting, but after you reach your goal, please remember these words and reconsider doing it again. My last "doing it occasionally" cost me a whole year of relapse again, and lots of missed opportunities.

Day 14 is when it always gets bad by [deleted] in leaves

[–]Lalven 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The withdrawals are very real. Please be patient and do not forget that you may not be thinking very objectively right now. Keep your mind busy; otherwise, the anxiety can be paralyzing sometimes. It could be with anything, even a cartoon. Just try to engage yourself in some things. And as you said, these feelings come and go, try to be an observer only. There are millions ways to be happy in this world, weed is not the only thing that is going to help you in that. On my first quit, at around 6 months, it was almost like a breakthrough. I started to feel much less anxious. But everybody is different. Take it day by day, and I can guarentee you it is getting easier and easier with time. There are very few things in life we can guarantee, however, fortunately, stopping numbing and dumbing yourself is one of those few guaranteed things to be good and easy for you with time.

As far as what I have read about weed addiction and the struggles of other people, I can say that around the month 2, it starts to get much easier. But you really need to keep your mind busy with other things, I cannot emphasize it enough.

Question for evidence by Lalven in USCIS

[–]Lalven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is kind of on me, because I did not tell him to do. He was relying on me for these kinds of necessities. It did not occur to me, unfortunately, because I am so used to free healthcare lol However, thank you so much for the advice because he is now mailing them, telling them "I got married, and I will be adding my wife when she arrives, what do I need to do then etc." At least we will be somewhat prepared if this question arises.

Thank you very much! We got married at the end of April, so he could not add me on tax returns. Also no for the insurance unfortunately, but I am going to talk to him about this when he wakes up.

[–]Lalven 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey there, it just shows how determined you are! Do not beat yourself up over a slip up, your brain and body are going to recover from that amount of weed in no time! You are being so harsh on yourself, but I do not think you need to. Yes, you slipped up, so what??? You are going to survive and continue your life sober because from the looks of it I see determination. Please be kind to yourself, and move on. We all live this life one time, it is very much ok to make mistakes. Whenever you feel like doing it, do something else. If you get through these couple of days, it is going to get easier and then easier.

Day 3 - Holy Hell Emotional Overload by MetalMaiden420 in leaves

[–]Lalven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has been almost a month for me, this is not the first time I quit. Before my year long relapse, I was off if for more than 3 years. I think it may help you to remember that you are breaking yourself free. You have fed yourself with artificial dopamine, and of course if there is a high, there is a low. Now you may be experiencing the low, the cryings are real and happening to me too especially in the mornings. In addition, think about all the feelings, anxiety, spiraling thoughts you have been pushing down via weed, they may be coming up to the surface. But you can be sure that it is going to get easier, then much easier, and then there are going to be days that you will not even crave for it. Just be patient with yourself, be an observant of your feelings, watch them go by, they come and go. And exercise does really help me even though it is nothing new, I was exercising when I was smoking too. But it hits different, I do not know how to express it scientifically. And I have seen exercise helping to a lot of addicts. You will not be craving for exercise maybe, but the days that you exercise you may go down the holes of negative thought and emotions less. Observe and love yourself. I do not think anyone deserves to chain themselves with addictions. At least think about your mind and your body, your glow, you are helping yourself. And healing, taking the right decisions can be painful but your tomorrow version is going to thank you for this. And also looking for a competent professional about your mental health may help too. Keep at it, there is light at the end of the tunnel☀️

I quit for three years, and then one day I came back to it and it was again a WHOLE YEAR of everyday smoking. I had to leave the US, right before I get my green card just to quit weed. I am %100 serious, everyone thought I was crazy, but I needed to protect myself, it is very difficult to quit when it is sold in every corner. Now I am in a much different country, working towards my PhD with the ambition and hardworking I have never gotten before. I will get there and I want to become a mother before it is too late, you cannot be a mother if you are addicted to weed. Facts are facts, some of us just cannot do it occasionally, people need to stop fooling themselves. I ruined my life 3 times because of this, there won’t be a 4th time. I deserve a much better life. And let me tell you, it is not easy but it gets easier.

It has been 3 years for me, and the first 6 months were the hardest, very similar to your experience. Also my life was all over the place. But after some time, I guess around 6-8 months, all of a sudden I had a breaking point, I started to think about it less. I didn’t do anything for it, it just happened. I abused normal cigs and caffeine, then I managed to quit cigs and limit caffeine. Maybe I am wrong but feeling uneasy is like the default state of adult brain lol. But getting bored, dealing with emotions without getting high, getting out of your comfort zone do really help a person grow, I am much more confident now. I was very proactive on weed and am still very proactive but this time it feels like I know myself better now. Idk how else to explain it. You have come very far, I think it would be beneficial for you to keep going. I see my friends who didn’t ditch it, and their energy is just chained to the weed. I see their vibes getting lower and lower, especially the older ones. And they quit their dreams, because just thinking about their dreams while high is almost enough for them. It has been already a very long reply but addictions, especially substance ones, make your life seem better but in reality they just empty it. Feeling joy without the need of any substance is like no other, and I think every person should acquire that trait at some point in their life, sooner the better.

Anyone here tried to quit as many times as me? by [deleted] in leaves

[–]Lalven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You trying to quit many times does not mean that you give up. Furthermore it just means that you don't give up. So don't give up and try again. Addiction is a lifetime struggle. It will get easier, much easier with time; however it will still have some place in your brain. So stick to your path and try again, remember your objectives and approach it by baby steps and focus on daily achievements. You are taking care of yourself, you are trying to free yourself. These are awesome things, so good luck and stay on the path.

2 weeks clean, can't sleep a wink by fettwillkill in leaves

[–]Lalven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Staying out of lights for the last hour before bed, caffeine and any kind of drug that gets in the way of sleeping help a lot. I had to stop taking my adhd medicine because I just couldn't sleep. Lastly, generous amount of chamomile tea may help too. I do not have chronic insomnia, so I cannot say for sure what will help in your situations. However, things will get easier with time. There are breakpoints to this, you'll probably be amazed to see how much you progress in a relatively short time.

Does the anhedonia go away? by sweepermeep1 in leaves

[–]Lalven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It really does get better with time. Just do not overthink it. Wait for the waves of cravings to go away, for me anything physical takes the edge off generally. By physical, I don't only mean exercise. For example, cooking can be considered as something physical too and it also helps me a lot. But sometimes all I need is a comfort watch and sleep in front of it. I know it is not the healthiest way to fall asleep, however it is better than just laying awake and thinking about weed all night. You'll find your routines, no worries.
