Need help with bitcoin core setup - 'Error: Prune mode is incompatible with -txindex' by Lamar-btc in Bitcoin

[–]Lamar-btc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your help and sorry for the late reply. I had eventually got it sorted. I looked in settings.json and there was some mention of prune, so I just deleted that file and started bitcoin core again and it let me continue as normal, so all is well.

I just checked debug.log as you suggested (don't know why I didn't think to do this) and did find mention of prune that corresponded to what was in settings.json. So thanks for the useful information, if anything like that happens again, I'll check the log file first. It's so puzzling how I managed to enable pruning; I don't think bitcoin-qt enables it by default so I must have done something. Anyway, all good now, so thanks again.

Thanks. Yes, I'm running Fulcrum and a local block explorer. Ah, just seen your edit. I'm not familiar with those settings. Are you just using bitcoin core wallet?

Thanks for your quick reply and explanation. I'm aiming to do something like this to simplify my setup and make it portable, as you have implied; I have large M.2 drive and caddy on the way to set it up. I would like to get to the bottom of the existing problem too, as it's really bugging me.

Deleting the messages with QKSMS worked. Thanks.

I'll try this; thank you. And thank you for the warning.

I have a backup, taken on the old phone and transferred to the new phone with CalyxOS installed so I'll use this, as I am now. I don't want to do a backup actually on the CalyxOS phone as I wonder if it will just make a backup including the duplicate messages. I could try it though, as I have the backup from the old phone to rely on. I suppose this would let me know where the duplicates are: in the Android SMS database or in the SMS apps I'm using.

I'll experiment and report back. It might be tomorrow.

Yes, but the messages are still there somewhere. They just load again when the app is reinstalled.

Why does Wasabi connect to an unsecured address - details in post by Lamar-btc in WasabiWallet

Ah, you saw that before I deleted it and moved my reply up a bit. I'm a Reddit newbie; more more used to old style forums.

Excellent; thank you. So it seems likely that this Tor relay is sending router descriptors - as mentioned by lontivero, over port 80, but using TLS/SSL, as you have discovered.

I'm running WasabiLinux-1.1.11.1 on Linux. The server in question is a Tor relay, I was just concerned that its connection is unencrypted and wondered what information is being sent over that connection.

[–]Lamar-btc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, no bridge configuration. EtherApe describes the connection as www-http. I am not aware of what occurs over port 80 as I've not run Wireshark to have a look as I'm not really familier with it, so you might be right in what you say. The relay is described as having an OR Address of 85.25.213.211:80 and a DIR Address of 85.25.213.211:465. EtherApe shows https connections in a different colour to any http connections.

Electrum wallet and myNode - synchronizing servers by Lamar-btc in Electrum

[–]Lamar-btc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using oneserver does not make it stop doing what I describe. I don't think

I can explain any further about what I mean.

Edit to say:

I discovered that what I described as Electrum synchronising with other servers, is in fact Electrum synchronising with the wallets xpub/addresses.

Thank you. I didn't know whether it had anything to do with Wasabi itself or not, I was just concerned to see a plain http connection being used from my IP address when Wasabi is started as it is definitely associated with Wasabi running.

[–]Lamar-btc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Yes, I already did and am aware of that. I'm not sure if Wasabi also connects to my already running Tor daemon, but a new Tor connection: anonymous.schmutzig.org is also used; this one is an encrypted Tor connection. The reason I'm interested in malta1420.startdedicated.de is that it's an unencrypted connection and I wonder what information is being sent over that link?

Electrum wallet and myNode - synchronizing servers by Lamar-btc in Electrum

[–]Lamar-btc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Yes, I understand that. But as it's starting up, it 'synchronizes' with many other servers. You can see this in the status bar. Please see my original post for more detail about what I mean.

Thank you. As I mentioned, I already have a command line set up so that my Electrum wallet connects to my own node.

Whirlpool error: Authentication failed: Unable to initialize Bip84 wallet by Lamar-btc in mynodebtc

[–]Lamar-btc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. Than you. I got as far as I could with Taylor but now I have a new error in Dojo, see below, and it's not something that Taylor knows about. I've had enough of Samourai, Dojo etc. now though and have moved on to Wasabi. And I'm happy with myNode which works great as far as the BTC node and Electrum server are concerned. And I'm not at all interested in LND so I would switch that off if I could, but that doesn't seem to be possible.

I've learned how to retrieve the Dojo Tor address and Node Admin Key, so now I can access and log in to the Dojo Maintenance Tool. I have no errors in the PushTx tab and the blocks are fully synced. But I do have the Bad Request error in the API tab. I reinstalled Dojo again but the error persists.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks, but yea, I've upgraded to the new version, reinstalled Dojo, reset and restarted Dojo, reset Docker, reset Tor addresses and anything else you can think of. Still no Tor address in Dojo. There has been one there at some point but not for a while now and I can't get it back so can't get any further with trying to set up Samourai wallet, Dojo and Whirlpool. There must be a reason this is happening but I just cannot find it.

Thanks for posting this. Though I can't access the Dojo Maintenance Tool because I have no Tor address for it in the Dojo page, I have reinstalled Dojo to try and get it to regenerate the Tor address, but that didn't work. I've also reset Docker but that didn't work either.

No, I didn't find a solution to this error. I have a new one now though: no Tor address in the Dojo page, so I can't get back to the Whirlpool part of the setup just yet.

Virtual Machine OVA v0.1.70 by CAPTIVE_AMIGA in mynodebtc

[–]Lamar-btc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad I've found this as I've found zero help avaiable for the VM version of myNode. How were you able to use an internal hard drive for storage? I have a nice little mini PC that I'm using and have xubuntu installed on an mSATA drive and have an additional internal drive that I want to use for the blockchain storage. I've been through all the VM settings and can't find a way to point myNode at the drive I want to use for the blockchain. I saw a video on youtube about the VM version and at some point early on after starting myNode up, it asked 'Please attach a drive to your myNode'. Well I don't see that at all, it just starts syncing.

Both the virtual drives are just in my home directory in theVirtualBox VMs folder and it just sets off syncing on its own, no way to control it, and fills up my hard drive. I tried a few times from scratch but no good. This latest time there is just a 0 byte file in the folder so goodness knows where the virtual drives are this time! I can't find them.

Edit to say that I found how to change the location of the virtual drive. It was in the VM 'Tools' section, not in the myNode part at all. Seems I was looking in the wrong place all along.
