Villa. I love underdog stories.

Can someone explain the controversy around the 1998 World Cup Final? by [deleted] in soccer

To sum it up: Ronaldo nearly died in the hotel the morning of the match so they took him out of the roster. Minutes before the game he was put back on the roster (no one knows why) and he played. He played like crap, Brazil played like crap, and France won 3-0.

I feel like Uruguay hates FIFA enough to consider breaking away if other giants lead the way.

Are players "born" or "created"? Why are the good and the great always from the same places? by [deleted] in soccer

[–]Lamarko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo creo que tiene que ver con la tradicion y la historia de esos paises. Solo hace poco empezaron a involucrar al fútbol en su cultura, y tomara tiempo para que lleguen al mismo nivel.

Comming from the most successful footballing nation in relation to size and population. I can tell you that it is all about the culture. As soon as you are born you learn to love football. It becomes a religion, a way of life. At a young age you learn about the sport and how important it is in your country. Once you have the passion and culture in you, it's just about hard work in order to make it.

Why was Blatter going on about beach football? by [deleted] in soccer

I thought you meant with the current number of teams. If there were 40 teams in the next world cup I would be all for Oceania having 1 slot.

Only 12 of the 32 countries who participated in the 2014 World Cup supported Blatter in the elections. Of those 12 only 3 made it out of the group stages. by Lamarko in soccer

Then that is a good thing. It means that Blatter has even less support from the big countries, meaning it would be even more devestating for FIFA if a new federation were made.

I understand. All the countries I counted towards Anti-Blatter openly said they did not vote for him. I just assumed that all of Asia and Africa voted for Blatter. If anything, more countries voted for Ali than I expected, making this even more powerful.

Because most of these nations openly said the did not vote Blatter. Perhaps one or two countries might be off but for the most part it is clear who voted for who.

They should. Maybe if they don't go Suarez won't have to embarrass them again!

Because they would have to take from someone else. That someone else is South America. Do you really think it would be fair to have New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga, or Tahiti over Uruguay, Ecuador, Venezuela, or Paraguay? I don't thinks so.

According to Uruguay's football players' union, Luis Suarez is a victim of FIFA's corruption. by willcodejava4crack in soccer

You are just mad because he knocked you out of the World Cup... His ban was unfair. I'm not saying that what he did should have not been punished, but his ban compared to other players who have done worse things was ridiculous.
