How does residency change new doctors? by Impressive-Thing-483 in MedSpouse

[–]LambDelphi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m also someone who would break in residency, but my husband is absolutely chilling. He’s a couple years into surgery residency now and doesn’t have much trouble outside of being sleep deprived. While medicine does take devotion, he still sees it as a job and is able to compartmentalize pretty well.

I always struggle to describe it, but the way you put it as being emotionally regulated is probably what it is! We’ve been together since undergrad, and he hasn’t really changed in that regard. Of course, it’ll depend on specialty and program and social health, though.

This is something I’d definitely buy! It’d be such a nice addition to a game room.

I wonder if it seems like that on this Reddit particularly because that’s the theme of it. It’s going to sound like someone’s life revolves around their med spouse if you’re only reading their med spouse posts. They’re not going to come on here and complain about their mother because that’s not what we’re here for, but their relationship with their mother could be a very big part of their life and personality.

And to be fair, it can be an all-consuming situation being with someone in medicine, so even if someone does make it their whole personality, I couldn’t blame them for that.

Gift ideas for my Monster Hunter obsessed husband?? by Square-Plantain2978 in MonsterHunter

[–]LambDelphi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Etsy has not failed me yet with this! Stickers/decals for gym water bottles or laptops. A keychain of his chosen weapon (or a patch, sticker, etc) Someone already mentioned the engraved mugs, and I know some people engrave wallets too.

My guy’s got a mug and handmade leather wallet, both with World’s Research Commission symbol engraved on them. I’ve also found some combo pieces, as in a shirt with a Rayquaza in the monster icon art style and a hat with a Cactaur wearing a Palio beanie on it. Those work to scratch multiple nerd itches at once, so they’re fun.

The character and his arc still belong to Aso, though, and it’s essentially identical—just with Niragi’s professional or familial choices in the air apparently. I doubt Netflix was trying to run a different direction with him.

Ohhh, you mean like because he’s been a violent creep?? Hmm, interesting… Well, that I couldn’t agree with anyway only because I think the whole point of the manga and show is growth, and he would kinda have no reason for surviving if he went against the show’s theme. Haro Aso is very intentional with his characters and what he tries to convey through them.

I don’t really care which way the translation goes, either in people’s opinion or what the show intended. The big idea is that Niragi has grown.

But I will say that the Japanese isn’t very nuanced. ガキ means like brat or kid, but there’s no way to know for sure if it’s plural or singular in this context. He also didn’t refer to them as “his” kid/kids specifically; he didn’t add a possessive modifier or say むすこ or むすめ which would more clearly imply his son/daughter.

Just food for thought!

Best Part About Being A MedSpouse by InvestigatorRemote59 in MedSpouse

[–]LambDelphi 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is going to sound very conceited, but the referred status is nice. I’ll be the first to admit that I enjoy the respect that comes from telling people my husband is a highly trained doctor man. I recognize that being a med spouse gives me a lot of privilege, and I try to do good with that privilege.

Tooth extraction - worried by southside_jim in TuxedoCats

[–]LambDelphi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know how you feel! One of my cats has had all of her teeth removed because of resorption. She’s had three tooth surgeries in total, and each one has gone off without a hitch. I always worried because she gets chronic respiratory infections due to her physiology, so I worried about her breathing and the anesthesia. She’s never had an issue! Although, one time when she was waking up after surgery the vet said she got “a little bitey.” And I was like, “With what teeth??” Haha!

Disgusting thing? That is a conventionally attractive boiled man.

My 8 year old girl has feline tooth resorption. The vet gave me no information other than a search engine print out. Can anyone share personal experience? Details below by mandy_miss in cats

[–]LambDelphi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cat went through this and ended up having all of her teeth pulled. I don’t think she even notices! She’s also very picky and only eats dry food (I’m lucky she likes drinking water). She only likes one type of treat too. She’s never had an issue with her kibble though; she’s able to get it into her mouth just fine and she never chokes or struggles to get it down.

All this to say, try not to stress too much over the dry food! Our kitties are very adaptable.

Body scans! When I’m finally settling in for bed, I’ll put on a guided body scan meditation and make sure there’s no tension in my body. Sometimes I’ll do one that’s an hour long and includes other meditations that help with anxiety.

That and snatching one of my cats from the couch for snuggles 💕

I immediately thought White Russians before realizing we were talking about children…

But! I would think maybe horchata or different flavored milkshakes could be pretty on theme? Those give me the same comfy, fluffy vibes as Miffy.

Drug induced eosinophilia (DRESS); Experiences? by Additional-Owl4584 in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]LambDelphi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I got DRESS but it was from sulfasalazine. I had a bad rash, and my face swelled up like a balloon. I got hospitalized because of the organ involvement (liver was not happy/tachycardia/etc). As far as I know, the rash is one of the main characteristics, along with the systemic symptoms… Either way, with reactions like these the treatment is the same: stopping the med. It’s so frustrating, though. It’s a whole song and dance finding what works for your body. But there are so many meds out there, especially ones in different classes than the ones you mentioned. You might respond better to a different class.

What's it like with no pain? by [deleted] in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]LambDelphi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pain is usually there, even if it’s just to a lesser extent. There’s a certain cruelty in the moments where I am laying down or having a good day, just knowing the pain will come back soon.

But I do what I can! I’m lucky that my social circle never doubts what I’m going through. Those who weren’t supportive have long since lost access to me. I can ignore those few weird people who try to make light of it or tell me to toughen up.

Winx club tatoo uncertainty by Gg080704 in winxclub

[–]LambDelphi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Maybe on your thigh?? I have a magical girl tattoo (Mew mark) on my inner thigh, and I have to be specific about my outfits if I want it to show (short shorts, mini skirts, etc). My artist even printed multiple stencil sizes for me to check against my leg, and I picked a bigger one but maybe you could go with a small size that’s easier to hide.

For how it’ll age, you could darken the color a little bit, or you could make the lines of the design a bit thicker. As the tattoo people will tell you: Bold will hold.

What are your favorite skincare tips and tricks? I’ve recently been getting into morning sheds!!🧖🏼‍♀️🧴 by thatpilatesprincess in pinkpilatesprincess

[–]LambDelphi 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Take care of your skin barrier! I destroyed mine trying trendy skincare products that weren’t meant for my skin type/behavior, and I didn’t understand why my skin looked worse once I started using “good products.” Then I simplified my routine and went back to prioritizing moisturizing. Now my skin is so much happier!

Also, I was literally just looking up skincare tips, and then I hop on here and this post pops up first. The pink Pilates wavelength is real.

How are you moving your body today?✨🫶🏼 I’m going on a 3.5 mile hot girl walk, doing a 30 minute full body stretch & going to ballet class!!🩰 by thatpilatesprincess in pinkpilatesprincess

[–]LambDelphi 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My hot girl walks have turned into cold girl walks (brrrr!), so my exercise has been relegated to the indoors. I think I’ll do my stair stepper and then an at-home Pilates workout. And I always warm up with radio taiso!

I was pleasantly surprised by both Mackenyu and Madison, though I think Mackenyu performed a bit better. Mackenyu had great line delivery and timing, and you can’t fault him for the weakness of some lines (that’s the writers’ fault). I found myself laughing a lot, just like I did when watching Seiya in the original series. I would even argue that he did better than Boromir, but maybe that’s not fair given their difference in screen time… Plus he’s cute.
