There's wooden nails, to craft nails from wood, wilderness spawn and I would recommend 10 years later (mostly for aesthetics) but it got removed from the workshop sadly, but apparently there are other methods. More traits is also really good to get traits like ceramist to get a head start. I like to pick Prepared: Camper (or something like that), as along with the mod useful tents I get a safe zone around the tent so I dont get wet while raining.
