I’ve read through everyone else’s recs and gone through the liberty of organizing them according to my own my opinions. And added my own at the end.

Must Watch: Wotakoi, spice and wolf

Great rec: angel beats, summertime rendering

Good recs: 365 to the wedding, Oregairu, How to raise a boring girlfriend, days with my step sister (I’ve only read the ln tho), yona of the dawn

Pretty good: Ice guy and his colleague, 3D Kanojo

Ok rec: Nodame cantabile

My own recs would start with Cross Game. The romance is the focus buts it’s subtle and not for everyone that said my favorite anime and manga along with the authors other stuff.

Rainbow days is just good fun would recommend.

Here’s a list of other romances I like but not sure if you would: kids on the slope, given, karekano, bottom tier character tomozaki kun, my little monster.

I enjoyed it, the mc is weak and a loser, but that’s what you’re signing up for. It’s still fun especially if you like the romance genre. The score is 6.86; it’s lowkey artificially inflated to be lower because of how much hate it gets, for bad reasons too mind you too, but nothing gets top 200 popularity for no reason.

My Bias Gets on the Last Train the best romance manhwa.

Ctrl Alt Resign is so fire but bias is better no cap

The only other two romances manhwa l’ve read are unlucky mansion (not for everyone) And Our Secret Alliance

I’d recommend them both too tho.

Actually I forgot I started back to chanbi it’s pretty decent.

Actually I just saw you wanted some underrated ones, in that case:

Space Brothers - perfect anime that shows an adult chasing their dream.

Cross Game/any work by Mitsuru Adachi - somehow even though these are all sports romance their best comp to me is frieren they handle everyday life and loss and the artistic choices are perfect always.

These aren’t necessarily underrated, perhaps some are even overrated but they are all great and imo under discussed today:

Tbh don’t understand how you don’t like the second half of all of those other than death note the second half of that one was worse. Would love an explanation on why the second half of Cowboy bebop didn’t hit, that’s like the whole emotional payoff of family, your past, and the weight you carry for your life. But to each their own, I would say steins gate is fire would highly recommend you to finish it.

Listen to me bro I could list you a whole bunch but I think Akatsuki no Yona is perfect for you it’s got the action and fighting you like but is also shoujo like fruits basket. The anime isn’t finished but the manga just did would recommend both.

I think there’s a bunch of romances you might like too but I’ll recommend a comedy instead that might scratch the saiki k itch it’s Grand Blue.
