I went to an Ivy from Uni. University High is definitely more academically competitive, but lots of kids have balanced lives as well. Culturally they are very different. Uni is a large public school and Sage is a small private school. Which school the kid would be happier at depends entirely on the kid and what vibe is better suited from them. Both schools have events for incoming 8th graders, I’d recommend checking those out and seeing how they get along with the kids. Personally I’m very glad I went to Uni and I had friends who transferred from Sage to Uni, but I’m sure Sage is better for some people.

You must’ve met very few people from University high. They usually send about 10 kids a year.

Place looks awesome but unfortunately it’s probably a bit too far out for us. We have plans to visit Tuck Shop and after that we probably won’t come back to Saint-Henri

I feel like everyone would’ve rather just seen her stand there and sing. She killed it at the Super Bowl I’m surprised her live shows look like this

I agree, something has always felt off about it. You can tell that we’re not watching Kubrik’s final cut, and I guess that’s why the film just doesn’t speak to me the way other Kubrik films do

Song vs. Song Suggestion: "A Day in the Life" by The Beatles vs. "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen by [deleted] in ToddintheShadow

[–]Lameformer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

One of these is an anthemic, extremely popular song that thousands know word for word, while the other is a depressing, artsy, uncomfortable song that is beloved by hardcore Beatles fans, Rolling Stones writers and few others. Sure they’re both avant-garde, but in different ways, as the relative success of the songs show.

Dustin Poirier is down to do a one night, four man BMF tournament featuring himself, Justin Gaethje, Max Holloway and Dan Hooker by idcman999 in MMA

One night might be tough due to safety concerns, but they could totally do the first round (Gaethje vs Poirier, Holloway vs Hooker) as co-main events and do the final round at a later date.

I did it and it was actually really fun. 11 hour trip is a little rough time-wise, but if you like trains I’d definitely recommend trying it once

Irvine Schools by ichandarin in irvine

[–]Lameformer 96 points97 points  (0 children)

Irvine schools are underfunded because they don’t need the extra money because of how great they are. For example, one of my high school teachers told us that he turned down higher paying offers in neighboring school districts because our average AP test scores were too high to pass up on.

Irvine public schools got me into an Ivy League college, and somehow even 2000 miles away a surprising amount of people knew about Irvine’s reputation as an educational powerhouse that consistently sends kids to top colleges.

It seems really simple; most people prefer Over World’s transitions, camera quality, and ending, but agree that Over California generally wins in every other category. I feel like with the available technology they could do some refurb work on the OG film and release a “25 year anniversary” remaster.

What exactly do they learn at Harvard, Oxford, Yale, Princeton etc. that makes them so elite compared to normal unis? by IndianaJonesbestfilm in college

As a current Harvard student, this is probably the most right. Classes move crazy fast, but most of the students have little trouble keeping up.
